The Internet Radio Fairness Act has been introduced in the House of Representatives. It's very important to send a fax message to your congressmembers to let them know how you stand on this issue. Click here to send a fax now.
I was in this situation a few years ago, went to the jewelry stores, and was appalled at the insane costs for some pretty lame-looking rings. I thought I'd be trapped into buying an overpriced diamond anyway --until my mother happened to mention that she had a ring that used to belong to my grandmother, and would I like to give my fiance that ring? Hell yes!
My fiance (now wife) just went crazy over having such a unique ring with so much family history --and from my cheap perspective, it was FREE!
So I suggest you ask around and see if any of the older women in your family have an heirloom ring they would like to give you to use as an engagement ring. You never know.
MS is sounding very hypocritical. They claim that they are doing this to prevent "non-compliant" browsers from rendering the page incorrectly - browsers that do not support the XHTML standard, but then let in Netscape 4.7 and above?
The last time I used NN 4.7 it didn't render anything correctly, much less being XHTML compliant!
If they allow NN 6.0, then they should allow Mozilla 0.9.4 and above as well.
Most of the chatter here has been about Western Europe. I will most likely be moving to South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, or Mexico) in about 1 year (when my wife completes her MA in Intl Poly Sci). What are my options in SA?
TIA

I donate to Plugged In, a community technology center in East Palo Alto. This place is really helping to turn this area around --they train disadvantaged teenagers in web design technology, and there's a creative space and after-school program for younger kids. Very cool work.
I've been doing the exact thing except with cable for the last 2 years. And before that, my dialup was under my biz account. In fact, I not only write off the cable modem, but I also write off a home office, my vehicle and other goodies. The only caveat about writing off part of your living space is that (1) if you're renting, you're all set, but (2) if you own your own home, then all the money your biz uses to pay "rent" comes back out of your pocket when you sell your home. All the computer equipment, office furniture, anything I can get at the local electronics store, etc. is essentially half off or more because it is with pre-tax dollars. Gotta love it!!!!
Right now they are only working in 2 dimensions - they have a seperately controlled hover thing that suspends it on a cushion of air while they work on the thruster jets that move it from side to side, forward and backward. This same technology will be used when they incorporate the 3rd dimension of movement. (got a buddy working on this project - he had pics up on the net, but they took them down.)

Note: you don't need a fax machine - it is all done through the link above...

And if that fails, check out the estate sales!
