  1. That's it? on Firefox Site Visits Up 237% · · Score: 1

After comming out of beta and all that publicity... just over double? So it comes down to us geeks who've been using it since beta, plus one or two family members we convinced? Not even that if Neilson decided to count upgrades and theme/extention visits. For all I know of stats, they could've even included http://www.google.com/firefox

  2. Flaimbait on Survey Reveals Americans Support Blog Censorship · · Score: 2, Informative

"Eighty percent of the 2,500 respondents..." So we have a survey comprised of less than .001% of American population, and clueless as even the post implied. Now, if i'm not mistaken, the title reads: "The survey reveals Americans support blog censorship." Oh, yeah. It really "reveals" the truth. Would this post have made the front page of /. if the title was really what it's about? "An insignificant and unconfirmed survey done by a company craving attention may suggest that Americans don't support publishing their private information." By the way, why is it linked to ZD Net Australia? Shouldn't it link to the original survey? Because I can't find it anywhere.

  3. Space in between on Hope for Hubble · · Score: 1

If you foreigners are wondering whether Americans are giving up Hubble for something better, or we no longer want to gather knoledge that's not generating income: Upgrades are done when the replacement is already in place or ready to be up in a very short period of time; else, it's desertion. That money saved will get more votes funding a tiny fraction of resources need to bomb someone with theoretical WMD.

  6. How is Starbucks #4? on Apple, Google World's Top Brands · · Score: 1

Apple and Google's done some good things, but did they help me graduate? Can they work without the conjunction with Starbucks? Will the world come to an end without Apple or Google?

  7. Re:Current? on A9 Search Engine Launches Yellow Pages · · Score: 1

The Manhattan pictures are about 1.5 to 2 years old as far as I can tell. That's pretty useless here, since it's the life expectancy of an average restaurant or bar. It's interesting, but not very helpful, to see a picture of a restaurant at the same location of where you know two other restaurants started and closed since.

I think the mobile phone analagy is bad. It's more like losing your (physical) keys, and having to buy your car and house all over again.

  9. Is music art? on British Schoolkids Get Copyright Education · · Score: 1

I'm just wondering if the music 'artists' today are indeed artists or mere showgirls/boys preforming for the dough. In comparison, they make a ridiculous amount of money compared to anyone else in other fields of 'art', music sharing or not. I'm in computer graphics and my company licenses my work. However, I'd be honored if an individual thought a low quality jpg version of my work was worthy enough to decorate his desktop, though my company might disagree. I don't dare call myself an artist, but as someone producing something emulating art, I want as many people as possible to be exposed to it as possible. If I was a STARVING artist, I might think differently, but then again, I doubt any artist signed with a record company is really starving either.

  10. Re:Sorry on TiVo vs. Windows Media Center Edition · · Score: 1

I don't even own a tv, but $6 seems like a lot of money! -a 6pack of bud at a grocery store (or half thereof for real beer) -3 cups of joe at starbucks (or one if you like pu**y drinks) -2 dvd rentals (which is perhaps more entertainment than you'll get from a month of watching tv) -1/1000 of the broadband fee wasted on writing this useless comment.
