Sounds great but do we have some figures of performance hit for these new features ?
I mean it's a must have whilst you're bug hunting, but could be an overkill on production servers/desktop ?
Didn't have time to dig into TFA yet, just thinking out loud... (aka don't squash me like a bug:-)
Then again you could just be paranoid and don't want your IP address all over the world.
I don't think the CNIL would allow such a change in France.
Can't speak for the rest of the world though...
Then again we're speaking about UN, i.e. global and democratic (jokes asside), no China nor Germany would enforce its view on internet to the world.
Whether US standards are easier or not than the rest of the world is pointless, it's still one country to rule them all...
Would be interesting to know if Firefox has somehow started a trend (even a small one) that make people looking for other alternatives to IE
Like Opera that just got Free (as in Beer).
That could be part of this slowdown on Firefox's spread.
Tough to spot precisely though as Opera has it's user agent set on IE IIRC...
Well to be even more accurate, most consoles are sold at a loss.
Because I don't think the GameBoy familly is in that case, and IIRC the GameCube is actually quite cheap to produce too.
So I would say that actually Nintendo manages to get some money out of their Hardware.
But they may be the only ones...
I, for one, used to keep their cds stacked up near my desks.
In case of any upcoming "CD In Your Face" War with my flatmate/workmates.
Saved my live many times *sigh*
I'm pleased to see diversity but can't we get these usefull tools with a Linux kernel too ?
Like FreeBSD is doing with DTrace.
After reading Heap Protection Mechanism I thought it could have quite a noticeable inpact.
:-)
To be honest from the quote we can just guess the slowdown should be somewhere between 0 and 50% (with 0 being quite unlikely)
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of services run on your servers and how busy are they ?

Do you really want to pay for the delivery of that?
Well for $5000 we could expect a free delivery of a pocket-sized version, at least !
how much power this baby needs ?
Does it come along with it's small nuclear power plant ?
