I like the look of the HD-3000 but the lack of a wey to hook up to satellite is a problem. A DVI in would be nice.
Wouldn't let us select via the guide, but it would give a digital copy. For those in Canada near the major border points, it could be an interesting card. Price is attractive as well.
All this talk about losing a drive. phooey.
We are talking desktops here, not servers.
Be serious, how many of you back up your home systems? How many companies back up the desktop machines? (for that matter, how many properly back up their servers! -- a depressingly low number)
The speed boost is nice, but the best part is the single drive. Perfect example, is when using the desktop as a PVR/video editor. Drive *space* is what is needed. Raid 0 is just right for that.
I haven't lost a desktop drive in years. Lost 2 SCSI drives so far off my home server, but given that the drives ancient, were given to me free, is no big loss. Annoying to be sure.
Granted, Raid 5 protects your data, but many of us cannot spare the extra $$$ for that for desktops.
If it was for a company server, then d'oh! of course. For home use, particularly when recording HD content, bigger is where it's at.
This is how it was MEANT to be.
A little more thinking rather than just rushing in and blasting away.
If all you want is a blastfest, then just flip on godmode and gimme all and knock yourself out.
I particularly don't care for the teamplay type games, so I DON'T BUY THEM. The graphics etc on them are great, but I don't care for that style of game. That doesn't mean they're bad games, just not for me.
I've seen the "hide in closet" comments before. Hey, we're talking about the forces of Hell. Bossdevil say "wait in closet" Imp wait in closet.
Probably a nice break for them after all those eons in Hell. (hey, it's dark and quiet. I can take a nap)
I wasn't too keen on the darkness to start, but it does work, and is RIGHT when you think about it.
All those explosions etc, will have knocked out power and lights. Most everyone is dead. The UNdead of course do not like the light. The badguys aren't going to turn on all the lights just so I can see better to kill them.
(nowthen, an OPTION to brighten things up for those with weak hearts or minds, would have been fine, but this mod helps with that, and the gamma changes as well)
It's a shooter still, but one much closer to real than previous ones.
(btw, for those who haven't tried it, play the reactor level in multi and jump down the core. You get a funky teleport and squirt out with the berserk powerup on. The effect of THAT is incredible. (and freaky if it's the first time you've seen/heard it)
My story with iD was a bit nicer.
Way back when, one of their games had this little memory glitch. Would not work properly with certain memory manager.
iD sends us the snippet of code that intialized the memory. I pass it to our fellow who wrote the memory manager. His response "that's wrong, use this" He rewrote their code we sent it back, a week later I get another copy of their game in the mail. Memory problems are gone.
The game was Wolfenstein. Memory manager was QEMM.
WinWin for both, (pity I'd already paid for a copy of the game, since I would have gotten one free at that point. oh well, money well spent)
Tell SOCAN to snarf off. An Expressvu commercial account will run $593.64/year for minimal (46.97/mo includes all fees, but not taxes.) programming that includes the Galaxy stations. (variety of music) (you have to take some TV programming now according to the CRTC, which seems kind of silly)
Cost of equipment is minimal, installation isn't that expensive (no freebie specials for commercial establishments unfortunately) and.. it is a tax writeoff.
Hmmm, I wonder how they would proceed in court over someone just having the radio going? It is free off the air, just like someone having a bar and putting a TV in with a plain old antenna doesn't have to pay.

Apparently I've got to disable my firewall so that their security server can post a picture. Why does it need it's own port? I hate gamespy
