Yes, (someome will figure out how to install&run other code) - can you spell modchip? This is fine for linux/opensource.

However the problem remains - you still can't sell anything for such a box w.o. clearing it with M$.

Do you REALLY belive the put in those kind of blocks for the users sake? Belive me, they only think with there wallets. a 3. party company can NOT sell anything for this thing without a licens/key! Not that I worry, if millons of these boxes are made, they are gonig to be hacked - just like the X-box...

I could almost feel sorry for them (Sun)...
In a 5 min. address, the CEO for Sun in Denmark managed to say that they always belived in open source and continued to say that you now can get a 100$ licens per user insted of per CPU/whatever.

Talk about not knowing where to go...

While I guess I true VR. would be great for games and education, I belive computes could do a lot more even without mindcontrol. Just like your spouce knows something is wrong the minute you step in the door. They don't need to read you mind, but pick up on small sounds, like how you put the key in the lock or take off your shoes.

There is nothing to stop a computer from doing the same and using the info to select music or TV channel to watch.
No need for mindcontrol - just better computer programs.

I never really understod, how QT or Mysql can release stuff under GPL and non-GPL. How do they handle bugfixes and new features from 3. parties (guessing a bugfix is covered under the GPL)? How do they put it back into the non-GPL version?
