hey microsoft is just lucky nobody recommened linux over windows, and besides, internet exploder is bundled with WinD'oh!s, so what do they care. but who reads "slate" anyway
but i found some lies burrayed in this article:
That said, be aware that getting started with Firefox isn't a one-click operation.
firefox is pretty damn easy to install, i can't imagine anyone having a hard time, the only configuring you really have to do, is change a few settings like your default web browser (firefox), and change your homepage (slashdot)
hahahaha, firefox is better, if firefox had a filemanager built in, i would never touch internet exploder again!
yeah, actually, i don't think stream ripping is illegal. Because when VCR's came out, they were worryed that it would used to break copyrights, but the supreme court said they were ok, so you can record whatever you want from TV or Radio, so i guess stream ripping is legal.
Was GWU one of the collages that had students that the RIAA sued?
on my website i add a whole bunch of fake email addresses similar to mine in alfabetical order, then in Mozilla Thunderbird, i set a filter that says if there is an email addressed to (similar email address here)x50 to mark it as spam
so at the bottom of my site you see a whole bunch of hyperlinks, ". . . . . .." all with mailto:___similar_email_address_here___ as the URL
usually spammers seem to CC: or TO: email addresses close to your's, and usually send one domain at a time (by sending one domain at a time, it speeds up sending for them).
i think if you do something similar to what i do, you shouldn't have much of a problem.
it works pretty good, since using Mozilla Thunderbird i went from more than 100 spams a day to Zer0
I don't have a "real cellphone", i just have some crappy prepaid wireless cards "tracfone" they seem to be the only service that uses nokia phones now. Nokia still makes some OK cellphones, but i don't seem them making "PDA phones" or "game phones" or "camera phones" or "video phones" they might make them but they arn't popular.
However, nokia has been making cellphones/carphones forever, and cellphones have been getting very very popular, so they are still doing ok in buisness i guess.
well, leave it to some students to hack into their school's network! It's awful what they did, but even worst, the network shouldn't be so insecure, i feel bad for students that might have gotten their passwords stolen. The network admin's should make sure it doesn't happen again. They could do some nasty shit, like change passwords and lock people out of the server, they could delete files, and if it had NetBIOS or some crap like that they could bring down many computers in their network, and all kind of malicious stuff.
I think gameplay is the most important thing of a game, how realistic the characters move, react, and the physics in the game should be accurate.
However, i don't think that graphics will get to the point that they are "too realistic" or "so realistic it looks fake/bad" because even now, graphics in some games add "garbage" to the graphics, imperfections, and "real textures" now instead of a few pictures taken with a digital camera, tiled all over the place, engines use randomness, to make textures, so it doesn't look like everything is tiled, also they can add "defects" i think if you look at a wall in any room of anything, you'll find some defects, you'll find little holes from nails in the walls, etc. games are starting to add those defects in, and lots of realistic dynamic trash, for example in GTA3 there is old newspapers and leaves all over the city, and if you drive a car by, the air movement from the car driving by moves around the leafs and newspapers. But that combines REALISTIC graphics with REALISTIC physics.
There is just as much software for linux than there is for WinD'oh!s People need to learn to use Linux, or any other GNU OS.
I am still kinda a linux newbie, and i'm really trying to learn. I think if my first computer ran Linux instead of WinD'oh!s i think i would be able to do more with Linux than WinD'oh!s
Linux is hard to learn for many because they've been raised on windows. I think that learning to use Linux after using WinD'oh!s for so long. Is much like trying to learn a new language. It's not that Linux is hard, it is because it is difforent.
People say the english language is the hardest language to learn, however people seem to learn it pretty easy. But if we were exposed to another language first, we would still say that language is easy.
An experiment for geeks with kids: Teach them linux first, then winD'oh!s
I know people with masters degrees in computer science, and are experts Unix, but they can't do a thing in WinD'oh!s, but they sure can zip through unix commands easily. _________________________________________ _________ __\ Bottom line: Linux is not hard, It's Difforent!
I don't care, microsoft is starting to corner every market there is! 99.99999999999% of desktops run Windows, i think PS2 and Xbox are even about 50/50, i'm not sure, but Microsoft is still a monopoly. I think everyone forgets that. plus, xbox games suck! If theres a game out there for xbox thats actually any good, you can play it on PC, or PS2.
Plus, i'd rather play on a high resolution computer monitor than a low resolution TV. and I'm a big fan of the mouse for games, i like having a mouse for FPS, it provides real time aiming, instead of a joystick. and sitting there for an hour turning around while someone already kills you.
I'm not a fan of MS, i know lots of people with Xbox, I don't think the graphics are that great on an Xbox, i think if you have a $20 graphics card, you'll have better graphics than xbox.
I'm a big fan of using a mouse for computer games, it provides realtime aiming in FPS games. on an xbox or PS2 you need to hold the joystick for an hour, just to turn around to shoot the guy behind you.
Think of it as $50,000,000 a year for Micro$oft.
The internet has alot of movie piracy on it already, i've heard rumors about Apple launching a movie download service. "iMovie" is what it will prolly be called. but besides DVD's won't be ovsolite soon
The internet is still pretty slow (for the home user) so i don't think downloading full DVD's is gonna be coming out soon. In 10 years this might be possible.
The FCC needs to start changing some laws about landlines, such as the one that states there can only be ONE cable company per area. Why? because Comcast Sucks Balls we got rid of comcast (for TV, we still have their shitty cable Internet) and we got DirecTV instead, DirecTV is going to have a hard time with TRUE "on-demand" however they do have TiVo. Satellite is limited by the number of satellites in their fleet, the number of transmitters/transmitters on each satellite, the FCC/IRU/ITU allowed bandwidth and the compression level they use. Dish Network for example, does not have as many satellites nor the bandwidth that DirecTV does, so they compress the video streams more than DirecTV. Cable is allowed alot more bandwidth, because they only use shielded coaxial cable, so they can use just about any frequency they want. The new kid on the block for broadband internet is called Broadband over PowerLine (BPL) however i hope this never is allowed by the FCC because it causes lots of interference to radio devices http://www.arrl.org/tis/info/HTML/plc/ and i hope broadband over powerline never is allowed
in 2008 all broadcast television stations are going to be required to take their analog stations off the air, Most popular local stations broadcast a digital signal along with their analog one, so they can transmit HDTV. The FCC is planning on using the leftover bandwidth for wireless internet.
Bottom line: The FCC is keeping back GOOD technology! The FCC's job is to limit interferance, I don't understand why they have so many laws about landline such as CableTV and CableInternet, as long as it doesn't interfere with anything
I think most people prefer internet explorer because it's there. I NEVER used IE, i always used Netscape, (and now mozilla) and that was when the battle of the browsers was still big, but I think netscape was MORE popular. Microsoft cornered the cornered the market when in Windows98, When they merged IE with Windows Explorer, so to browse your files you HAD to use IE, (today thats still the problem, i wish i could use FireFox as my file manager)
IE is only popular because of bundling
I still think FireFox is a more seccure browser, simply cause it is, and there isn't so much "IE Friendly" HTML, i've noticed, that on pages not published with Frontpage or any other MS product, Firefox often looks better. and pages done with Frontpage often still look better in firefox.
I still think firefox is a more secure browser because it isn't jammed with useless features like IE. I have the "view with IE" extention on firefox, i NEVER need to use it. The only thing i can think of that can't be used in firefox is Launch.com
Oh well, stick with firefox
Hole/Bug/Virus/Worm/etc.etc.etc. score: Firefox: 1 Internet Exploder: 3876234978561389456238946534298
I'm not sure why internet exploder has so many more holes, but i think it might just be because more people use it and more people try to attack it. (i doubt that) but i still feel safer using firefox. The hole has more to do with the OS than it does the browser.
