I didn't RTFA but I have experienced this showing of ID. My brother tried to purchase Thief (a mature game as I recall) and Radio Shack made him get someone with ID (he's 16) and so, his big brother Jess just happened to have his ID (my health card which also allowed me to vote just a few days earlier) and we bought the game.
One thing we aren't remembering about "oh xbox uses pc parts so its not a console"
*cough* please remember the NES and the Atari and several other consoles used 6502 processors.
And oh look, they just happened to be like, the most popular processor for computers, and what? the 68000? Thats a computer processor... but... in the Genesis?
We shouldn't shake fingers at consoles using PC processors, its nothing new.
Would this if further developed simply allow a company say, like Microsoft to prevent people who are not using Windows to visit websites?
If put on servers that would be trouble for many Linux users. Microsoft could just try to shrug it off saying that its not a "trusted" operating system.
Anyone using say, frontpage or Windows Server could effectively just by using those products prevent "those dirty Open Source infidels" from viewing big websites....just a thought.
I know this is slightly offtopic, but
how many people have ever actually BEEN to the IT section of slashdot? It hurts the eyes!
On a more ontopic note, I am tres excited about this technology and I for one will keep a sharp eye on it.
Go self healing technology!
True, but (I say this as a question as I am not 100% on this) but are there not rules regarding the use of vertebrates in science?
I remember in good old elementary school where we couldn't use vertebrates in experiments. (at least when it came to looking inside them or "treating" them to your new chemicals.)
the problem with the 3D mouse is that it tires you arm.
Anyone who's ever tried to play the NES with the power glove will tell you.
You simply get exausted just trying to keep your arm still or even just keep it moving.
Maybe its just because I'm hella weak in the arms but I haven't a doubt that I'm not the only person who think this is whats hindering such a device from the mass market.

I'm also an "old school" Ultima fan playing II, III,and IV back in the day.
While I admit I haven't really played any of the newer games and haven't even looked at UO, I must admit that this expansion both makes me curious but also makes me disapointed.
It doesn't seem that they are updating it enough and the only logical sucessors to UO have been canceled. (UO2 and UX:O).
What I want to know is, are UO player numbers increasing? or has 7 years of running taken its toll?
And doesn't EA realise that maybe constantly churning out expansions really only prevents people (like myself) from going out and buying the now budget title?
I definitely would have checked out UX:O had it not been canceled, and even though I'm a sucker for samurai and ninjas and the what not, even this is unable to take my interest into UO.
First time voter.

Although we may not think about it that much, we owe a lot to the moon for all the things we bounce off it or take whats bounced off it.
/. to help prove general relativity.
The light reflected from the moon provides large people to be able to see with increased accuracy at night (full moons obviously esecially)
We bounce lasers off of it as was recently discussed on
We bounce radio signals from the moon for use in communication. (although to a lesser degree of course)
And although the future is quite fuzzy, I'm sure we'll be bouncing things off that dry old rock for (hopefully) centuries to come.
I tell you, the human ability to use the moon for so many things (useless and not) astounds me.

I'm a lefty and I use my left hand when using my mouse. (Although I don't switch the left and right keys, I'm just used to it now)
of course not, that only exercizes hand muscles already under heavy exercize by the common geek. uh... because they type a lot.
