The P4 doesn't support SMP? I know of two friends of mine who both have dual P4 systems. One is a Sony, the other a dell. Most of the programs they use don't even use SMP. It's enough to make a guy want to cry..
Macs would be a Ferrari with a two cylinder engine. However, they would have a cult following, because they "look so cool"
Windows cars would be full of holes, cost a fair amount and crash often. But everyone uses them because %90 of the gas on the market runs in them.
Linux cars would be created by an ad-hoc group of people who work together, each group creating their own part, that must be assembled by the user. However there are some car distros that come pre-assembled. Including the famous Gentoo distro which comes with robotic foundry that first creates another robotic foundry, and then that foundry starts creating each part for the car. This distro is is popular, because you car will be optimized for the gas in your area.
BSD cars would be exactly like the Linux cars except they insist that the steering wheel be on the right side of the car than on the left. And hence, they are not as popular, but gaining support in some "geek" circles.
BeOS cars are still on the market, but are no longer being produced since Be Automotive whent out of business and sold it's rights to it's autos to Palm, which makes go-carts.
QNX cars are mostly used by the military and health organizations. There are known for their quick reponse.
Okay, here's what I don't get. We are going with 96 procs that run at what speed? Knowing Transmeta, (partners with VIA right), why would anyone whant a cluster of those procs? Yeah, they may be somewhat fast, but the FP calculation on these things stink (I've heard). Now why not go for this system http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&cate gory=11223&item=5716808314&rd=1 (ebay). A 128 proc SGI origin with R10000 procs. for $14,000 or how about http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&cate gory=11223&item=5714399696&rd=1(ebay). Same thing with 4GB RAM. These things are full SMP mahcines (which means they are not a cluster). Look it up the SPEC benchmarks site, and you will find that one 320Mhz will run the same speed as many low end P4s! and 128 of those at that!
Now if only by budget would support a beowulf cluster of these machines.....;)
I can see the headlines now:
"200 people killed when drunk driver collides with office building".
If we have problems with people staying on the road in a car, what will it be like if they can fly?
Okay, let's think this out. To me it looked like the article was simply comparing the gammar of the PC users to that of the Mac users. Could it be, that PC users are simpl more nerdy (and hence by defult use worse grammar) then Mac users. I'm sorry, but when it comes down to it, I have a really hard time beleiving that the avrage Mac user knows more than your avarage Linux user....

I don't broadcast the key, but one I use is heyjudedon'tletmedown. It's a blast typing that in and watching others raise an eyebrow.
If cars were like OS.

Yes!!! now I can make a beowulf clu.... wait, what am I thinking?
tbcpp
Why don't they call this YAIF - for Yet Another Image Format. Really guys would the others not suffice?
tbc++
Imagine a beowulf clu... OKAY I'm joking!

No more need to drive, now that's a sobering though (another cymbal crash please)
Or like the guy who crashed into the airport. He found his landing to be terminal (cymbal crash please...) tbcpp
