this commercial sums up everything i hate about macs and macophiles... pretentious and condescending FOR NO GOOD REASON; I've used the same apps on macs and windows for about 10 years; honestly I think windows is actually a little easier to use but that could be since I use it more - outside of that they operate pretty much the SAME; as for viruses/rebooting/etc/etc/etc/etc - I've had 1 minor threat virus in 10+ years of using windows, and i don't think I've EVER had XP crash on me (and I'm generally running several high demand apps at once) - what it boils down to for ME is price - I can spend much less and get just as much of a computer building a PC - and that's the bottom line - mac users are paying more for their computers to keep Bono in their commercials and to keep car manufacturers making their vehicles "iPod Compatible" (seriously, what's the problem with just adding an audio jack), not for "better" computers (don't get me wrong, I like macs, but the whole our-farts-don't-stink attitude the mac community puts off is pretty offensive)
you could always just tell your professor to use an alternate email address rather than your default school address; i don't think i ever checked my school email account a single time at either university i attended... maybe that's why it took me 5 years to graduate
let's see how well your 72 year old mother does on your linux box.. go ahead.. give her a copy of a linux distro, a computer, and a wireless card... different OS's meet different needs... i'm more concerned with the apps i'm running than the OS i'm running - I don't want to shell out the extra $$ to get a mac and I don't have the patience for *nix
i can't remember the last time XP crashed on me
i use XP all day long, running multiple Adobe products at once, along with a dev web server, and the handful of games i play... i go weeks without restarting... and i don't need to look up a tutorial online or get berated by an ornery *nix head on a forum when i want to plugin a wireless card or join a windows domain
that being said, i'm probably not going to be getting vista,... if it ain't broke...
Feel free to read the TOS, but they, like virtually all non-essential service providers, retain the right to terminate the business with a client. In Blizzard's TOS it basically states that they have the right, in their sole judgement, to terminate accounts based upon TOS violations.
i was just going to try and say the same thing myself; boo-frickin-hoo; he can't play WoW anymore; that is if you consider triggering macros "playing"
very well put - i'm a wannabe geek and when i tried setting up a linux box at work, tasks like getting the machine to work happily with active directory turned into painful, week long struggles digging through information and getting tid-bits of help from reluctant helpers... i think linux developers, more so than linux itself, need to become a bit more 'user friendly'
Outlook's such an obvious answer... it's a great program (especially coupled with an Exchange server and Project server - which do get a bit pricey...) everyone's so set in their "free"/open software (read: anti "M$") ways they overlook the fact that they do make a couple solid products
I would still consider purchasing "Best of" DVD's (not necessarily sports related) for the "bonus" content provided - I enjoy such things as commentary, outtake reels, deleted scenes, etc - if the 'industry' started focusing more on putting out quality products _worth_ buying, losing sales to TiVo'ers would simply be an afterthought

when are they going to start work on a windows killer?

oh man that game was great, i'd completely forgotten about it
that's exactly what i thought - why can't people just learn how to write instead of relying on a grammar checker?
