Actually, Google Maps is getting plenty of screen time on news shows- any story where the satellite photos show usefull or at least pretty details displays the Google logo for all to see.
They could do it now with the images on file from US, ESA, and Soviet spacecraft but for the zoom-way-in effect we all love we'll have to wait for the Mars Reconnaissance Observer to build up some data.
