"How many people who arent geeks like us will spend the time to download another browser and learn how to integrate it with their os"
Easy. I do it for every computer I come in contact with (since everyone loves to bug me to fix their computers). Simply download firefox, set it as the default, and put it where ever the IE icon used to be.
The best part is, most of them don't know the difference.
This is a lil OT, but is it legal to download mp3's if you own the physical cd? I know some people just don't know how to rip the mp3's off their cds.
What if your CDs get stolen? Do you still own a license to that music? My music collection was stolen.. TWICE!
What about dl'ing tv shows? To me, this is nothing more than a vcr, but is it legal??
Before everyone gets excited, I doubt this will result in brining photoshop over to linux. I see them going real small with this, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, or some other smaller apps.
Fear not gimp!
Does this article take into account the market share of all of these platforms? I browsed TFA and it didn't look like it did.
Ofcourse if few people use osx as a server, it would result in few hacked boxes.
"What effect will the built-in search [searchenginewatch.com] in Microsoft's Longhorn [microsoft.com] have on Google's traffic?"
Agreed. I think we are going to be getting to a point where the majority of the desktop users will stop going to a website to search. They will choose to use integrated solutions in the future. If google can get an app out for the desktop that *integrates* with the desktop, it will be able to battle with the longhorn search feature on it's own playing field.

"Anyone got a scan of the Ad in the New York times? My name is in there as I sponsored."
I'm pretty sure they weren't running the NY Times ad on the same day that firefox 1.0 final released.
Can anyone else confirm?

Still doesn't make it right.
..
The moral of the story is to NEVER support lawsuits like this. Never.. Ever..
Seriously...
I'm hiding right here.

Parent Modded Insightful???
*Shakes head*
Only 5 comments and they're already /.'ed. Maybe they should apply some of that speed to their servers.
