Why do we get science geniuses and illiterates?
Why do we get economics geniuses and illiterates?
Why do we get law geniuses and illiterates?
Why do we get art geniuses and illiterates?
Because students gravitate toward their interests and tend to focus on them. Perhaps school should force a more diverse curriculum for all disciplines.
Everyday computer skills don't require you to "understand" a computer. You just have to know how to use it for your purposes: design, word processing, whatever... Of course, you need to know a few basics (formatting a floppy, backups, etc) but you don't need to get visceral.
I drive a car to work everyday, and I'll be damned if I know how to do anything more complex than changing a tire or checking the oil. For anything else, I consult experts (mechanics, or geeks...)
Yeesh... are we getting picky on grammar or what? C'mon, folks, it could be a honest typo, not like all those bare/bear there/their/they're you see so often.
Got it... they are the ones who made Ultima Underworld, right? Now *that* was a game I really enjoyed.
Nostalgia aside, it's too bad they are closing, since I can't remember a crappy game from them. How did this came to be? (then again, I haven't played games lately... don't have the patience).
Do a search of google for "betamax myth" (without the quotes).
Followed your advice and got (apparently) to the same site you got. Wow. It also mentions that the real cause for VHS popularity began with porno movies...
Ok, raise your hands (the free one, anyway) those of you who feel vindicated somehow...

Well, the concept of "pay once only" would be very nice, but, how about upkeep of the game? Perhaps a form of in-game advertising? I don't think so...
With a *very* large user base, maybe they could lower the cost, but give it away for free? It makes more sense if they give the client away and charge for the gametime.

Did they re-render Toy Story or Shrek? If the seamless animation is a major part of the appeal, then I'll probably wait for it to come out in cable.
Looking Glass... Looking Glass...

Watch it and you will feel so good about your own life....
You bet...
tho' I'd watch it just to hear my favorite line in the movie:
"I RULE" (K. Spacey... and he's right!)

Just my two cents.
