I can't speak to the Radeon GL Application switching to Mesa as I use Nvidia cards and don't have that issue.
But Flash 9.0.115 on Linux is TERRIBLE. That plugin is so unstable it crashes Youtube every other video and eats RAM. This isn't Linux's fault its Adobe's.
But there is a work around. Extract the FLV and use ffmpeg or mencoder and change it into another format, it looks MUCH Better. Just get it out of that horrid flash plugin.
I'm a little more concerned about script kiddies getting access to this Cain and Abel utility and doing a bunch of damage. I myself use metasploit to test my network for weaknesses, and sluethkit for forensics.
Straw man argument. Warcraft III is not Warcraft II version 2. Its a different game entirely. Most people never played Warcraft II. I contend to you in fact that Warcraft II was inferior to Warcraft I. Which the Stratagus project was going to Reverse engineer and utilize its Engine for. The Developers lost Interetst.
I disagree. I don't think that the Linux community can count on any given company treating us as anything other than hostile.
Let me give you an example. Warcraft II vs. Stratagus.
There was a group of people that wanted to play Warcraft II on Linux, so they made tools to extract the data of the Warcraft II DOS CDs and use it on the hard disk to play Warcraft II. At first, this was called 'Freecraft', later called Stratagus that made significant advacements in Warcraft II including:
Support for 16 Players rather than just 8 Support for Human/Orc joint AI. Support for TCP/IP correcting several gameplay bugs and sound bugs No CD Copy protection Actual uses for the Runestone and the Dark Portal (Dark Portal worked like a one way Starcraft Nydus Canal Superior AI.
Linux technology must be flat out BETTER than anything a Windowsd technology can produce. Compare Samba 3.0 to Windows NT 4.0
- Support for LDAP No stupid limits on Trust Hirearchies Support for Kerberos Support for SMB without NMB.
We can't team up with MS, we must Flatten it, or they will flatten us. Thats just the way it is.
You are forgetting the fact that these laws are being used as a means of crushing political speech too,

The Pirates didn't pass laws that robbed us of fair use. The Pirates didn't hide rootkits on CDs. The Pirates didn't create this massive DRM laden Windows Vista, Music Renting. The Pirates aren't the one putting bandwidth caps, retarding the Internet's progress and putting levies on blank media. There are a number of other things. But what the *AA and IFPI have done has been far worse than any Pirate.

These people are ripping apart the infrastructure of one of Human kind's greatest achivements over their petty squabble. I'm really sick of it, and it would be easier if these people just got the hell off our planet. Fuck thesse people. Fuck the DMCA, Fuck the IFPI, fuck the EUCD, fuck it. I'm sick of these monsters that want to drag us down into the dark ages with their greed. Its just sick.
Its one of those things kinda like the definition of Porn; I know it when I see it. I'm not that brilliant an orator. And no, I don't think I'm qualified to know what those rights are. I will leave that for greater minds. But we all seem to know Human rights violations when we see them.
I never bought into the idea that of different cultural standards for different cultures. I'm a secular leftist. I say privacy issues effect all Terrans and culture is irrelevant. Now. Keep in mind, I am a fan of the Japanese. Yes this is a privacy issue. Yes, the Japanese people should resist it. Culture is absolutely irrelevant on issues like this. Using culture is an excuse for bad behavior. All Terrans of all the world should have standards of privacy, due process, autonomy, those sorts of things. I'm not advocating the US way is the best way, because really, I'm ashamed of what the US is slowly becoming. I'm simply stating these are the rights all people should have.
I have a Myth TV machine using a SAA7134 (MSI TV Anywhere Plus) TV Tuner card, and although this card worked fine in TVTime, and mencoder/mplayer, I had horrible problems with automute in MythTV and I am wondering if this bug has been fixed. I can manually turn off the mute in the saa7134 Mixer, but really, it made me feel ripped off by the guy who sold it to me promising me "This model works in Linux" Well he was telling the truth.
My Significant other and I have discussed it, I think I'm going to go get myself fixed. I hate children. I didn't like being a child, children are nothing but trouble, and children are destroying my Internet, and I will not, I repeat, NOT have kids.
If the teachers can't handle it, pull the computers from the K-12 system. Introduce computers at the college level. Since I don't think at the K-12 level, there's anything useful the teachers can teach.
The biggest issue you will have is creating a POS Software that integrates into an Inventory database. I had this experience in 2003. Firs off, you are going to have to create a LAMP application to handle sales and controlling the inventory, and Time cards. There are applications like this. But their interface leave much to be desired. I couldn't do it because I didn't have the PHP and MySQL needs to do it.
In order for Linux to win, Linux must be able to run all software of all platforms completely. Wine is a step in the right direction. But other platforms need to be like Wine, OSX, even obscure ones like Amiga, if I insert a CD from any platform, Linux should install it, infest it, and take control of it. Also, Linux must circumvent DRM, must circumvent CD Copy protection, everything. Installing something on Linux must be far easier than on Windows and automated.
How will this affect the operation of applications wich use SSH to standardie applications accross Linux like urpmi's --parallel parameter?
This is one of the most useful aspects of Mandriva, but as the number of nodes I have to manage increases, I find RPMS being SCPed to other nodes taking longer and longer. I think this is because even though with Kerberos Authentication is much faster, urpmi is waiting until one node finishes copying the files to start copying to the next node in the Domain.
We have discussed this before, and in the end it doesn't matter. Those DOCX Files are out in the wild. I see people at school saving their documents in DOCX all the time. The people using those MS Office can't open ODF Files. The Genie is out of the bottle. The ECMA can say OOXML is completely banned from becoming an ISO format ever and ODF is the true open format as it should be, in the end it makes no difference. M$ will just give the standards board the middle finger and people who use M$ Office will continue to use Office and like it because they have no other choice.
The Internet is a far worse place than it was years ago, there are botnets and viruses everywhere. There are millions upon millions of infected Windows machines all over the Internet. Only heavily armed Linux machines have even the remote chance of surviving. The Internet is a Barrage of crap with Phishers, and domain squatters, its horrible. We have the Telcos and CableCos making it worse by violating net neutrality. The Internet is a blasted Hellscape of ruin right now.
You are missing the point. This is an abuse of the patent system, and this is the reason there is no rational reason for the existence of software patents. They are in effect, censorship.
Apple is as much the DRM laden threat to open computing as Microsoft is. We may have circumvented this issue this time, but what about the time after that? and after that? Its a cat and mouse game Apple is going to play.

Linux and Samba are sort of a latecomer to the game, but you have a point. Linux needs to start churning out new technology BEFORE MS can.

We know waterboarding is torture. The Administration doing it knows it is torture, but doesn't care. There's a difference.

I know some people who work for the USian government. They don't give a damn what standard bodies certify Documents. They just care that it works.

From where I stand, AIDS could eventually be a species killer like in 'I am Legend'. Considering no one who contracts this virus survives.
Does anyone remember the the ZORK Clone SMIRK? I could never find my way out of the maze. Anyone know where I can find this clone?
