... one of the most important freight routes is between Genova (Italy) and Rotterdam (Netherlands): according to last year's EU report *1, in Italy 71% of the railroad infrastructure is electrified, in Switzerland it is 100%, in Germany 60%, in Netherlands 76.1%... Indeed, trains produce less pollution than trucks, as they run on electrical propulsion.
Moreover, in Switzerland 56% of the produced energy comes from hydropower plants and 38% from nuclear.
I have a Lindy Surge Protector (model number 73311) which has a cloverleaf input, a cloverleaf output, a "universal" (Multi region power socket) output plug, and 2 usb outputs (1A maximum).
It's rated for 660W max at 110V and 1380W Max at 230V.

The desktop cannot be displayed without grey lines because Steve thinks grey lines are cool. Could you please try not to think too different?

Hey suntan, for bug #1 we already have a patch "555-censor-messages-from-forums.patch"
Despite this, the problems I see with VIA solution are crappy chipsets/integrated graphics (crappy at least on Linux) that are shipped on their boards.
BUT I'm looking forward to see AMD' move...
how long will it take to release a comparable low-watt solution on the market ? (I mean, not just a CPU, but a complete mini-itx low-power mainboard/solution)
Pentium-M has 2MB of on-die cache. Athlon 64 has a cache size of 512kb or 1MB; interestingly 3800+ and 4000+ both run at 2.4Ghz but the latter gains in speed by having a double sized cache... so what if we add more cache? To effectively compare Pentium-M architecture (by architecture NOT price!) to Athlon 64 we would need a 2MB cache version of it...
"Reporters Without Borders announces its third annual worldwide index of press freedom. Such freedom is threatened most in East Asia (with North Korea at the bottom of the entire list at 167th place, followed by Burma 165th, China 162nd, Vietnam 161st and Laos 153rd) and the Middle East (Saudi Arabia 159th, Iran 158th, Syria 155th, Iraq 148th).
In these countries, an independent media either does not exist or journalists are persecuted and censored on a daily basis. Freedom of information and the safety of journalists are not guaranteed there. (...) But there are plenty of other black spots around the world for press freedom. Cuba (in 166th place) is second only to China as the biggest prison for journalists, with 26 in jail (China has 27). Since spring last year, these 26 independent journalists have languished in prison after being given sentences of between 14 and 27 years. "

ehm... I do live in Switzerland, and 99% of all trains (either passenger or freight) run on electrical power

The fee is actually 40 CHF (~36 euros) for 1-year

For the CPU we're not too far away (Athlon 64 1Ghz at 0.9V, 8W, scoring better than an Atom 230 @ 1.6GHz) it seems, see http://66.102.9.104/translate_c?hl=en&sl=de&tl=en&u=http://www.tomshardware.com/de/athlon-2000-Atom-230-Undervolting,testberichte-240084.html&usg=ALkJrhhQnkhENd8LbnpHTJpwfugMUrwNLw (translated from german)
