but it would be really nice to have open Access points at my various Dr.'s offices and/or inexpensive 3G for the rest of the places I go a few days a month. Having more than a minimum data plan doesn't make sense for me, and I can't afford it.
the sound of his own voice. In this case he seems to be supporting the luddites because many people don't accept or desire that technology brings change. Read about the introduction of steam power for parallels.
There are many good comments here already. Being proactive in handling job displacement would be a major plus for all of us, as best as I can see.
I see several mentions of using NTFS on OS X but no mention of using a commercial SUPPORTED version that is commonly available - for instance Paragon NTFS 8. I have used v7 and upgraded to v8 and had little to no issues with it. The only problem I've had was with a corrupted volume.
Is this a religious or moral issue - using only FOSS - or am I unaware of significant issues with this product? It would seem to me that a business would be willing to pay a small amount for support on a product.
I have no interest in the product other than being a user of it.
Better read the current terms of service first - yanking the rug before changing the terms of service frequently leads to lawsuits. Be nice to the pointy-haired one, but point out the likelihood of legal problems here. Also, I liked the first responder 'seanadams' suggestion as an actual solution - if there is no way to actually get the bandwidth upped.
Are passengers cell phones blocked as well? This seems like another stupid idea to stop someone from harming themselves when using proper / good judgement would work as well or better.
Teach your kid(s) to be responsible and you don't need crap like this. One blocked emergency call could cost a life.
It sounds like a VERY bad idea to me.
The user has to PICK the widgets to use on their Chumby - the company provides an initial set, which can be completely deleted.
We have one and I've never seen or heard of the manufacturer altering the device other than flash OS upgrades.
Get your paranoia straight, man!
"Microsoft Scoopers" - what a HOOT! I wonder what the EULA would be like?
How would they advertize it - "We get all the crap, all of the time"?
I've been getting crap from Microsoft for years now. Well what about that, Ive been using "Scoopers (tm) and didn't even know it!
Laughing now, thanks all!
Does anyone know where I can get an upgrade to sense-of-humor v.71? I think it is up to 1.x now. I have wife 3.0 and daughter 1.0 and am in good shape there, or at least so they tell me.
Got your MS Linux yet? Its the CD with the MS hologram and advertising on the front side and the EULA printed on the back side.
Check it out; they DID. If I had time I'd post the reference. MS would NOT use the code without some form of "legal" right-to-use - think about it.
I think I found this by looking up Microsoft+ TCPIP+ or similar.
The BSD stack isn't identical to the Microsoft stack; it is the other way around. Microsoft bought a license to the BSD TCP/IP stack and integrated it into their products. The difference in point of view matters a lot, at least to me.
I'll keep my Ipod; it does one thing and does it rather well. The size and utility of the thing - the manner in which it performs its intended function - is terrific! As far as I am concerned, the other music player manufacturers are watching Apples tail lights, trying to catch up.
I'm disabled and chronically ill. I can only sleep for 2-3 hours at a time, when I can sleep at all. I frequently listen to my Ipod (40gb) using Bose noise cancelling headphones (QC2) to get to sleep and to mask room noise while I sleep. If my Ipod included a phone and it rang while I was trying to sleep (or actually sleeping), I would flush the thing, after stomping it a few times.
I sincerely hope other peoples needs are different than mine - but this is my 2 cents worth.
I take exception to you calling Patterson a thief - tell me, what programming or design do you know of that does not use prior art in SOME fashion? Using an array is using prior art. Using linked lists is using prior art. Truly original ideas are very rare, at least in my opinion.
The command structure of much of CPM is a blatant copy of commands from DEC's PDP-11 operating systems. The internals are, of course very different, due to the difference in processors and hardware architecture. Is this not a usage of prior art on the part of Kildall? I haven't heard many people call him a theif.

uh, what exactly are you referring to? How does Gmail solve anything related to spam and credit card processing?

Stupid git! The title says it all. The quote is from Oath of Fealty by Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle.

Would that be John Alabama or perhaps Sam Alabama?

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Now, will someone please remind me to laugh?

something from one of Douglas Adams books... sort of like - past future unperfect tense. Or something.

OOPS, I'm an idiot! I meant for this to be posted to the original post by reporter (666905). Sorry, this was my 1st post.

I am currently using 3 of the Netgear XE102's with good results, much more reliable than the 802.11b I use with my laptop.
