I absolutely hate (and I'm not normally a hater) the glare from the glossy screens... and the fingerprints that seem to magically appear whenever I shift or close my eyes for a moment of respite.
FWIW - There are privacy filters available, that also act as anti-glare filters. Personally, I've found certain size displays to be absent from your selection of these screens, and some are incompatible with laptop displays. Not to mention that the privacy filtering makes them a rather poor choice of anti-glare covering when trying to share your entertainment with others on a laptop.
Luckily, I found a WUXGA 1920x1200 screen for my purposes... but it cost me.
I expect to NOT have to relearn how to do things. It should be so easy to use that ANY user familiar with that type of software can jump right in and use it effectively and efficiently.
It should look and feel as familiar to me as every other application (and the Operating System) that is on the computer.
So, don't show me that it's different - Show me how it looks when I'm using it. Certainly show any unique feature(s) that make your product better than what I'm using. Show me where your software kicks your competitor's to the curb. Show me how your stuff will make my life easier.
I had a generator (can't remember which one now) that featured "clean" power output for electronic devices 5-6% distortion or something like that.
I had the place wired so I could use one plug to connect the genset to the house, and then switch certain circuits over from utility to generator power.
For heat, I used a Kerosene heater (place had electric heat). I'd not recommend this option if you don't have electric heating.
The PC was powered through a surge protector, a power conditioner, and then a Automatic Voltage Regulating (AVR) UPS. Overkill, perhaps, but I never had any errors, glitches, lock-ups, or data corruption (that I could tell).
Alas, I had to move and couldn't use the genset in my new apartment. On the plus side - I haven't had a loss of power that lasted more than 10 minutes in the new place.
Every phone I had with a protruding antenna or antenna-like device has lost that appendage at least once during it's life while I was "wearing" it... campers, door jams, arm chairs, seatbelts, kids, power tools, tree branches... you get the idea.
I resorted to keeping my phone in my pocket to keep it safe - but it really became a literal pain in the you-know-what.
I've since moved and have no cellular reception 20 out of 24 hours a day - so I no longer have a cell phone. I find the silence very... peaceful.
Doesn't Budweiser use a ferret in some of their commercials too? Geez, I hope they don't confuse the kids to drink beer while busting their best friends.

"Why wouldn't they want to keep all of the porn sites in one domain, where a very simple filter could eliminate all of it from view?"
Who do you think surfs for all the pr0n anyhow?

That's what I look for.
... in an episode of "Numbers" or "CSI" or some show of that type?
This concept:
"... also discovered that his subjects seemed to have enhanced memory for those people that did not reciprocate in the experiment."
Could explain this:
"... humankind's considerable capacity for war and violence..."
... He's been abducted by aliens.
I agree with the generator AND UPS solution.
