  1. Re:Blackberries on The BlackBerry Infringing on Other Technologies? · · Score: 2, Insightful

I've been using a 7520 since it was released in December. I've dropped it a few times, few scratches. Phone is quite rugged and well built. With an SSH client (very slow network) it's indespensable.

  5. FYI on PoE on New Computer Powered By PoE · · Score: 2, Interesting

You have a few options with PoE.

One thing that I really like is a lot of our resellers just purchase one large UPS for the PoE switches. If the power to the building goes out no need for remote devices to be plugged into indivual UPS's.

Mid-Span hubs, for those who don't want to upgrade their core switches install these between (mid-span) backbone switches and PoE devices. Usually having data and data+power ports. There are also PoE switches where all ports can be configured to support PoE.

How I deal with 911 and VOIP. We run asterisk in our office. We are using Broadvoice but still have a POTS line to fall back on for 911 and a few other services. Our dialplan was easily setup that if 911 is dialed the call goes out the POTS line.

I've looked into submitting a few of my products for review however I am always skeptical having a Layer 3 switch reviewed and right beside the review for my product being an ad for Cisco or 3COM.

I would prefer finding a site that does not take money from my competitors. IE. a Consumer Reports.

I quit a dot.com because of ethics.. our employer was asking us to do unethical things to help pick up clients.. After that I went to work for military contractor and was laid off with about 50% of the company.. instead of working for another company I took a risk and started my own company (www.idreusdistribution.com) and very happy with the decision.

A PDA that isn't connected to the net almost seems pointless to me. I want to be able to access my data/email anywhere/anytime.

Companies who limit their hiring to people who only have degrees are limiting their talent pool. I personally feel that working your way up from the bottom and attaining the knowledge on your own is much more valuable.
