given the modular design of Cell, couldn't an x86->Cell emulator module be built?
Hardware emulation, on a hardware level.
The module would talk the x86 arch to the outside, but talk whever Cell uses on the inside.

Would allow me to run every x86 app I have from winders to suse, but I wouldn't have to port anything to a new arch.

might be a little slower, but adding more modules could make the cell cluster look like multiple CPU's to an OS.

unless I'm missing something fundemental about Cell's design.

I got this at my last job as part of my second interview, thankfully it was a take home "quiz".

"You are stranded on a deserted island, thousands of miles from nowhere you are forced to survive with what you have.

You have a handful of nails, a hatchet with a hammer head, 100 feet of rope, a large lens and a few dozen square yards of sail cloth.

The island has a variety of birdlife, fishing and crabs, but mostly inedible seeds, very acidic but edible berries and a large grove of coconut palms.

One side of the island seems to be geothermally active with several hot springs and some sulfer smelling vents, and a large variety of volcanic rock, obsidian and flint along with some hematite and copper deposits.

Now given this very restricted and scientifically unplausible situation, how would you survive?
Please take as much time as you need and give as thorough an answer as possible."

well being that are ARE just now getting "real" OOP into PHP, this would be the perfect time to start incorporating AOP. When do you put tires on a car? After it gets axles but before you try to drive it. Hopefully this concept gets incorporated into the standard PHP build eventually, much like a couple dozen modules that are there for hardcore users, the "average" php home basher won't use them, but they are there for those of us that do use them.
