    There is *no* way that a interpreted or JIT compiled language can be *faster* than native code.
    Well if the native code is produced by a bad compiler it could be really slow. So your "*no* way" is bullshit.

    To be fair the two things aren't mutually exclusive. However I get your point - you're basically talking about an idiot button or expert mode, depending on which way you look at it.

    To simply say "Don't expect usability from a programmer" may sound cool, but it's incorrect. It's incorrect because usability is a multipart issue
    How does that conclusion follow from the premise?

    I am not sure how scopes could be right or wrong. They make it pretty clear that they are not making a definite opinion on the subject.

    The report I saw said they were fragmentation bombs, but when they elaborated it seemed they were talking about cluster bombs (and they are not the same thing). Science & technology isn't the BBC's strong suit at the best of times.

    I thought the whole deal with the competition between the cities to get picked for the next olympics, was in showing the IOC how much the city/country WAS WILLING TO INVEST THEMSELVES to get the games to their town!
    If there's nothing in it for the hosts, why did those fine upstanding mormons in Salt Lake City pay bribes to get the winter games?

    You might have assembled one, but you can't build your own computer - epecially if by "raw materials" you mean "sand". Components are not raw materials.
