  1. My humble system on Organizing Your Bookmarks? · · Score: 1

I have a system that is ever evolving to serve my page finding needs. Here are some of the rules I follow to keep organized.

-If I recieve an amusing or informative url in an e-mail message, but I don't have any desire to goto it daily or weekly, but I still wanna have it to share or for reference, I just save the email message in a folder and if I need the url, I'll just go through my saved mail messages.

-all my urls that I visit daily (Slashdot, Attrition, Drudge, Cruel Site, etc) I keep right in the links bar of my browser for immeadiate access. If you have too many daily sites to fit the links bar conviniently, create a folder in your links bar that will drop down with all your sites nice and convienient.

-sites that I find usefull or that I will access at a later date in the near future, I put in a folder ON my links bar, so I can handle them with out throwing them into the abyss of my bookmarks menu, and have them at a touch in a convienient place.

-I separate sites that have items I may wish to purchase from sites that have information for me to read, such as news site or whatnot.

-a simple rule, if you are just saving the url because you find it somewhat amusing or informative now, and think that maybe you will use it in the future, just pitch it! That's why God created search engines. If you really want if back, you'll find it somewhere.

  2. Parent did a fantasic job on Online Gifts Not There Yet? You're Not Alone. · · Score: 1

I have to give my parents a whole lotta credit. They are new computer users and did a fantastic job ordering from cdnow.com and a few others (all of which were on time). However I felt so bad when they sheepishly asked me if I could help them order one of my gifts fro ebags.com because they couldn't navigate the site. I don't know what they thought of having their 17 year-old son having to order his own gift, but it gave them good experience, and everything arrived ontime, so kudos to cdnow and ebags.

But what about when you boot up the DC WITHOUT A DISK. What is running then? It's not varied disk to disk I don't think. It needs to have a core operating system to run anygame does it not?

  4. Re:Kinda Screwy... on More on the MS "X-Box" · · Score: 1

I used to feel this way myself. I had quake2, tribe, etc on my machine. I had emulators, and that was all I needed. But then you get to compatibility issues. Every year there comes the latest ground breaking game that require new hardware or software that you need to buy. Then if your system goes down for a while for other reasons, you are out of a game machine. With consoles, you pop in a game, play, and you are assured compatibility. And for years to come there are new and better games that will work with the system.

I'm afraid I beat you to it.

  6. Better happen soon.... on More on the MS "X-Box" · · Score: 1

For Microsoft's sake, they better come out with it before PSXII or else they are screwed.
Sony will easily beat out DreamCast's sales records in the first two weeks, if not the first.
Besdies, isn't MS getting kickbacks from licensing WinCE to Sega for the DreamCast?

  7. So naive, so very very naive on Why DVD Encryption Crack was a Cinch · · Score: 1

The movie industry is completely naive if they thought they had a system which was impervious to being copied. I'm too young to remember, but I can only assume the same thing happened with VHS when that was finally able to be copied/written at home. It was only a matter of time, effort, and curiousity.

  8. JVC non comp, no problem but PULP FICTION and MORE on The Matrix DVD Troubles · · Score: 1

I have had no problems on my JVC unit, but I can't seem to play Pulp Fiction or StarShip Troopers! Anyone else has a falty disk of either of those two? Mail me at bmccullo@gprep.org

  9. Re:Great! More Distraction! on Bandai to develop online games for cell phones · · Score: 1

If you've seen the Virtual Memory Unit on a Dreamcast, the newest screens on a lot of cell phones are like this. This give a lot of leeway and the possibility for some interesting developments! Granted the distractions it will cause will be nothing short of intensly irritating, but anything that has a chance at advancing multiplayer gaming can't be all that terrible.

  10. Re:intel is silly on Petition Intel Not to Disable SMP Celerons · · Score: 1

True Dat! I myself have just days ago purchased 2 celeron 366 chips which I plan on overclocking to 550+! Buying the 2 chips was a more cost effective option for myself (a student on a limited budget) than buying a second pentiumII processor, by about $50!!!
In any case what did Intel expect!?! The reason they built the celeron (correct me if I'm wrong)was to compete with AMD. When the K6 (K6-II?) came out, it mashed the PII and and gave the upcoming PIII a run for it's money, so Intel had to build something faster and cost effective. What I like to call a "Ghetto Pentium". They did, the public loves em, and now they complain. Sheesh!
