It's not even that I don't like a camera integrated into it - it's just not an option for me. This insanity is even starting to creep into PDA phones - witness the Treo 650's digital camera, for instance.
It's gotten to the point where I'm thinking of switching from Sprint to Nextel, just because Nextel's phones actually seem more reasonable for my (and my wife's) usage. Interestingly, the Sprint rep I spoke with said I could do this, and they even had a group for going from Sprint -> Nextel!
First off, the Treo is also available in a non-camera flavor.
Second, the talk of switching from Sprint to Nextel is going to be a lost one soon enough. Sprint has talked about how they are going to switch all voice traffic to their CDMA network and use the iDEN for PTT only. Thus, the lines will converge in due time, and one can guess the phones will also.
Yes, sure...

a brand that is built entirely on stem cells...
But don't stem cells become static and defined after some time? I hate to say it, but I think the innovation well will dry up eventually.
Very well said. Have you read the book you reference? It sounds very interesting.
Another funny thing about all of this is that the fathers of the Patriot Act are a lot of the same ones that tried to crucify Clinton for his wordplay, yet here they are, doing the same thing. Gotta love politics - double-standards abound.
I find it funny how often the items use vague, nebulous terms such that the powers-that-be have all the wiggle-room they want when exercising their new-found power. Words like "terrorism", "spies", "hacker", and "intruder" cannot be quantified.
Therefore, this act gives all the flex power to law enforcement they could ever want. Wouldn't surprise me if 10 yr. old kids downloading CDs could be lumped in as "hackers"...
That was an "internet appliance." This is a full-on computer. Most of those internet computers required exorbitant connection/monthly use fees and were crappily designed pieces of junk. This will (in theory) allow full-fledged computing for Grandma (if it comes to the US) for less.
Most hardware design is done very much like software design these days using HDLs
Obviously, the term "hardware" is very broad. I was not referring to FPGA design, so much as the other things you can do with an EE degree. For example, I do control systems engineering.
Hardware. Tougher to outsource, more jobs out there that pay well. Unless you are prepared to accept a second-tier IT job, or unless you are REALLY good with software, I'd recommend an EE or ECE degree. It got me a job with a major corporation, and I didn't go to a big school at all.
I was referring to the ones that say they will xfer the $$$ to your account, all they need is the routing number, and your pin, etc. Someone you know actually did this? Yikes.
Amazing - Apple seems to have finally realized that when you market something high quality and feature rich at low cost, people will flock to your stores
Um...or very HIGH price. Ever heard of this little thing they sell called the iPod?
You raise some excellent points, but I fear that you are being overly idealistic. You simply state the inteded legal uses of this technology. Isn't this the same argument for Kazaa? I mean, I love my p2p just as much as the next person, but let's not place a smoke screen over our actual intentions to exploit "Fair Use" as much as possible.
Granted, I generalize in a cynical-ish way, but just because Joe Guitar wants to use BT to distribute demos, doesn't mean anyone is going to look for that instead of the Usher album or whatever other shit is on the radio...

OH NO!!!! Just like teh War of the WorldZZ!!!!!1
Too bad you have to use the credit at an Apple store, not for 3rd party junk...
Yeah, the French do have shitty taste...
Whew, good thing we have India!

Agree 100%. "Real" engineering requires more communication between team members. As a rule, at least.
GPS in cell phones is not used to trace 911 calls. It is used as an accurate timing synchronization device.
Also, it is indisputable that it is easier to outsource coding than it is systems design. Agree?

What do you mean, "pick it up?????" They DEVELOPED IT.
Sorry, but this is not Apple's choice, necessarily. Blame the record companies. They are the ones that want higher prices, more DRM, etc...

Ouch.

Uh oh! Does this mean they are going to jail Prince Ombutu Nagala of Nigeria? He was going to split $28M with me!!!!!!!!1
Sure. 2 cores x 32 bits/core = 64 bits. Duh.
Um...or very HIGH price. Ever heard of this little thing they sell called the iPod?
5. Learn "br" html tag. :)
Sweet...one step closer to Zoolander phones!
