>Have you tried EVE Online (http://www.eve-online.com/ [eve-online.com]) yet?...and it's best feature - the devs have hands-on experience with the game! You might even say they are invested in it.
>It would just confirm my estimate of the IQ of the average civil-servant! (with apologies to all three of those civil servants out there with IQ's > 80)
I believe you have "the average civil servant" confused with "the average civil servant's manager."
>people who think something like this is 'overblown' are part of the reason.
Don't ascribe motives and responsibilities to people you don't know. You have no idea what I do for a living, what my political activities are, or what steps I've taken on behalf of individual freedoms.
Nothing really happened to him... no sanctions, penalties, threats of actions... they didn't even say "Halt thy nefarious actions, or I shall chastise thee anon!"
If you have to carry a Windows laptop through a checkpoint, just keep a Knoppix (or other distro) LiveCD in the DVD drive. Boot to pretty colors, log into nada.
Problem resolved without bloodshed or nasty sneaksies from Bill *hiss* Gates.
For those with Windows systems (seeing as most have those): Hit the power switch Press F8 Arrow down to "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" Press Enter Enter your userid and password Watch cursor blink on C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserID>_ No graphics interface, no desktop, just black screen with "helpful" comand prompt
Sit back and wait for TSA goon to ask you to shut off the laptop.
Eh, if this is shown effective even in preliminary tests, it can be tweaked by a structural biochemist (move a hydroxyl or sumfin' to make it easier to cross transport barriers or increase potency) and then you can patent it and market it to great praise and profit...

Actually, he wasn't a script kiddie - he was a hacker known as 'chameleon' who tried to steal U.S. defense secrets and sell them to a accused terrorist named Khalid Ibrahim.
I guess now he's just another 'trusted source' in the security biz, hmmm?
Ok, then. Let's close this thread, and return to our usual MS bashing, Apple-adoring, overlord-welcoming routine.

Nor am I obligated to tell you.

Overblown.
>Did they even make a box set for it?
Yes. I just bought it. Fine series.
>Will this book help you detect the enemies at your water cooler?
No. I will have to find out myself who took my red stapler.

It's not a competition between Windows and Linux.
Here's a thought.

How's that?
I was not clear.

In Windows you can do something very similar, and log on to a command prompt as well.
Turn it over to the TSA fellow at C:\>, and wait...
>Government isn't a child in need of coddling: it's a cynical and self-aware machine that studies to persist at your expense.
I think you're confusing the government with those who abuse it (whatever party is in power).
The government at times resembles a half-wit child with a gun.

Confusion can be fatal or just embarassing, such as in the Gimli Glider incident, which was partially due to a units conversion error.
Flamebait, hmm? ...
Too soon?

Win-Win!

Bring the mighty weight of Microsoft's legal staff to bear upon Jack Thompson, and allow us to watch him disappear in a four-colored puff of smoke.
Amen.
