Given the additional context that the USA is 3 trillion in debt and facing inevitable economic meltdown because of its foolish military adventurism just adds a further insult to the article.
Hmm, you're right, we are in debt, although it's hard to tell in the greatest country in the world. How about we stop forgiving the debt that so many other countries owe and stop paying out more money and aid to more people and countries around the world than any other entity.
In the context of the USA being involved in an illegal war of agression it's actually quite
sickening to read.
While being blatenly false, remember we wouldn't be (one of) the only ones in there if other members of the UN had been able/willing to do something besides write more resolutions. Big Brother has big responsibilities since our siblings are too busy whining and crying that life's not fair. As a big brother myself and parent of two, I see this metephor as extremely apt. The little ones can idealize and second guess all they want, but when the chips are down, someone needs to do the chores. We'll lead the way, its up to the rest to grow up and join in the adult world. Welcome, it's a scary place but we can live here and work to make it better. It takes advances like this to do the job and do it right. Do we carpet bomb and airstrike with napalm areas in Iraq? No, we use precision weapons and ground troops, more expensive monetarily and lives of my friends (former AF) but it's how we do it because we have to be responsible and go after the bad guy instead of killing everyone on the block where there was another suicide bombing. That's why we spend so much on weapons and the research behind them. Oh, and a drone will probably deliver you a new bleeding heart for your transplant in a few years, we always find ways to reuse our military tech.
Ok, I've lived in the south most of my life and used many southern carriers. On the whole, Ma Bell isn't any worse than the others (although I also had issues with continued billing after cancelling ending up on my credit - easy to fight tho). My issue is that you seem to be convinced of a corporate conspiricy with a utility company that is not going to spend that kind of time (=money) to watch or stop anything you're doing. Heck, it takes an act of congress to get a provider to track down someone who is blasting the internet with viruses that saturate their lines, and that can cause them revenue loss!
I realize this is/. a friendly outlet for anyone, including social malcontents looking for conspiricies to give credence to their damaged view on life but these comments are pretty far out!
This isn't the new york times, but posting about flying a plane into thier building? Isn't there any responsibility in posting anymore? Take a prozac and go back to watching TV, internet usage is evidently stimulating the wrong areas of your brain.
Oh, and if someone can get a 5 Insightful for that crap posting, please rate me negative for this.
Actually, the thin client/dumb terminal idea is still alive and well for certain types of distributed networks. The death of the mainframe and gradual loss of shared processing terminals was a huge hit to dumb terminals and thin clients but the growing popularity of Terminal Services and Citrix Metaframe has given a new home for this slim, inexpensive computers for easily maintained distributed networks. You have one admin team at one location with a ring of servers and no admins at your rinky dinky 5 user sites. If a unit goes down, you have them pull another thin client out of the closet, hook it up and you're in business!
I appreciate your enthusiasm on this subject, but I wonder where this concept of the terrorists wanting to "attack our freedoms" has come from. There is nothing in their intention to take our freedoms, but to remove our capability of fighting Muslim terrorism. All these terrorists want to spread Islam, thier version of Islam. Getting rid of us expidites their plans on wiping out Isreal and taking the entirety of the world. Our "corruption" as they see it is abominable and our religion unacceptable. They couldn't care less if we are unhappy because we lost our right to privacy over VOIP.
