  1. sorry to remind you all on The Financial Future of Space Travel · · Score: 1

For starters mining mars and comets and stuff is never gonna happen with fossil fuels. And if it even looked possible with any of the alternatives then there would be more going on that just some solar sail. nano space ladders? whatever. . . . and does anyone still even believe we went to the moon?

  2. Re:Get your priorities right on Online Business Model for a Band? · · Score: 1

if you are going online first then i think you have your priorities wrong. You need to build up a regular local following first. I am not talking about just doing gigs like every other tom, mick and barry either. Rocknrollers are the least innovative people out there. Almost nothing has changed since the 50's as far as performances go. I want to see bands get up and entertain as well as play good music. I can listen anything from motorhead to elvis in my living room. If i go out i want a good time, not just music. You could do stuff like quick rock'n'roll trivia, "guess the song and the band buys you a beer", do a couple of karaoke numbers.... get people involved and have fun. I am sick of losers trying to be cool with a guitar.... it has all been done to death.
Don't try to copy the current band business model yourself, and don't think the net is the answer, use the net to back up what you are doing live. You don't need to be international stars to make a decent living.
I also think you should gpl your songs, let everyone have good quality files. What could be better than having really good copies of your music everywhere. Sell cds and t-shirts, but give the music away. You could even set up something up where you load all your music on to peoples ipods for free when they come to see you.
BUMS ON SEATS, not another flash website with 4 dudes.

I have friend who burns everything... a waste of time and a windows attitude imho.
If you are going to quote me, then please get the full sentence in. Instead of twisting it into something different.
Did you honestly think that i am against backing up photos and important files, or did i hit a nerve cause you are windows horder with cds full of games you will never play?

  4. I delete on Digital Packrats · · Score: 1

I delete stuff all the time, I never regret it, if the day comes when you think i wish i had that, then i just go find something else.
I use all open source software, so any app or script i want is just and emerge or apt-get away.
I have friend who burns everything... a waste of time and a windows attitude imho.

  5. Re:One word on HDTV PC Capture Solutions? · · Score: 1

I use a dual head matrox card(a g400 i think) with DirectFB, i had messed with nvidia TVout stuff before, and I always had to start another X server on the TVout, but with DirectFB there is nothing to do, mplayer handles everything. If you use windows, then too bad, you just miss out on all the great software once again.

Windows doesn't even have ssh, the only people that think windows has everything you is need is the people that have only ever used Windows.

  7. Re:Why can't he just return it? on XBox Owner Sues Microsoft · · Score: 1

There won't be any problems like this in japan, I've lived here for 8 years and the xbox is about as popular as a californian roll at a redneck BBQ. I don't know anyone with one. None of the kids are interested in them. They all have nintendo game cubes or gameboys or both. I also remember reading an article when the xbox was first released here about how they scratched disks. Japanese rarely buy any foreign electrical goods anyway... at least MS isn't selling them at a loss . Microsoft.... give em a little more rope.

  8. Forgetting something? on How Technology Failed in Iraq · · Score: 1

Americans always carry on about kicking ass and how great their military is. This is only because you watch too many movies. You seem to forget that you usually get your asses kicked in these situations.... ... or doesn't vietnam and korea count? but even after you lose this one, hollywood will make a nice flick called "bagdad" where bruce willis kills everyone in a turban.
