But microsoft and radioshack/are/ null companies.:)
However, you can't add two strings together (without some other sort of manipulation) nor can you have variables with spaces (the one on the right side of the '=' wasn't intialized/nor/ declared, for that matter).
Man, I hope/.'s perl compiler can both fix and handle my poor excuse for java.:)
USB and Firewire are nice and all with one exception: their both very new technologies that not a lot of people have right now. USB only started gaining popularity with the iMac, and that was released over a year ago. This might be nothing more than just a rant about my lack of tech, but I think I'm gonna wait for the Pine MP3/CD player, because I won't have to buy another card (my slots are full up anyways).
I don't see where the 'big stack of CDSs' comes in. A CD certainly will fit more mp3s than a memory stick. And if you're thinking, 'But I can unload/reload different mp3s onto the memory sticks.', that's great, but if you're away from your computer for a while, where are you gonna keep those other mp3s? On a laptop?
It debuts at a retail price of $430, with flash cards ranging from $60-100? Not to mention that it is a Sony product (not known for the greatest quality) and it is using the lastest unknown and unsupported proprietary compression format. How many of these from how many different companies do we need? I suppose if the lawyers recognize them as a good thing, they might forget that mp3 is still free and available to everyone, which is better for us. Anyway, I'm still waiting for pine to hurry up and release their mp3/cd player (if it's not vaporware). 650MB of storage; I've yet to see anything else come close.
I agree with you on issues 1 and 4. But I don't see where you're coming from on the rest of the post. For #2, this is just a personal opinion, but I hate the silver discmans. Not to mention that every discman I've used has had/horrible/ skip protection, was very fragile, and sucked batteries like a goat. #3. I don't think it'll be too bulky at all. I can just place it in my backpack and walk to class. And it might not have swayed me if I already owned an mp3 player, but that's why I held out on buying one. Plus, I want something that won't break if I accidentally drop it.
P.S. An empeg would be nice, but if I got one, I'd feel iffy about getting anything less than the 28gig model, which would set me back $2500
The article mentions the lack of a storage device, and while that maybe a disadvantage to some, I frankly could care less about 128MB flash cards when a cd will store 650MB of mp3s. Sure, if you get sick of a song, you can't delete it or change it, but all you have to do is burn a few more cds. Hell, my entire mp3 collection will fit on about five or so.
So, according to the article, the antichrist is supposed to show up 'sometime this month.' Did he start today, or what? Anyway, my guess is that he's not gonna show up in Austin. How typical of him... bastard.:P

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm looking forward to Toner Wars!:)
Yes. Check out LinuxPPC for information on that. They just recently got it to work on the iMac, and they've had it working on the G3s for a while. The new G4s are a different story. The low-end 400MHz uses the same mobo as the G3, so it is said to work on that one. However, it is yet to be seen if it runs on the new 'sawtooth' mobos. YellowDog may also be working on this, but their site isn't quite as documented.
Hey, both Batman and Batman returns were good movies. They both starred the same people and Tim Burton did them. The third one started to slide, and the fourth just fell flat on its face.
Speaking of such services, does anybody remember the awe-inspiring Delphi? After I used up all my parents' money on Prodigy {I didn't know back then that from Austin to San Antonio was long-distance.. whoops} I went to Delphi and was amazed by all the options available to me. They had telnet, usenet, archie, gopher, local groups, chatrooms and more. The command line was much more confusing, but much more useful than the colorful Prodigy interface. Anyway, I miss them both {and I don't think I ever 'officially' unsubcribed from either}.

Woohoo. Posting in java. I feel like a geek, and I love it!
The Pine player is actually supposed to debut at Comdex this year. I can't wait.

So if I'm the first person to crack into the dreamcast and change its files, do I get to keep it? (a la LinuxPPC :)
