    I think most are missing the point. They probably already know what it does (if they don't, given the effort they have expended, then they are boobs). What they want to do is find what the language was *in order to track down the authors* on the premise that it was some strange language only used in a few places and if they find it, they can narrow the range of likely candidates .

    They're unaccountable bureaucrats playing games with nuclear weapons.

          For goodness sake! You have a good point about "unaccountable bureaucrats" (and by extension open-ended regulation) but they are shutting down domains on the f'ing internet, not firebombing the Vatican. It sucks for those involved, it's wrong, but nobody is dying as a result of it.

    Incorrect. It was designed to remain afloat with "n" compartments flooded. The gash opened up "n+1" compartments. If it had hit head-on they wouldn't have sunk, the glancing shot (possibly or possibly not due to a last-second attempt at a turn) caused too many compartments to flood.

    What makes you think this is going to help the poor people in North Korea. Dollars to donuts, this food gets resold to generate cash which is then used to prop up the regime. Which, in a few months, will restart (assuming they ever stopped) their nuclear and missile programs.

    Ok, just so I am clear - day-to-day weather changes don't tell me anything about global anthropogenic climate, unless it seems warmer than usual? And when it's *cooler* than normal, that means either nothing (if it published in a "right wing" source), or it's ALSO proof that there is global anthropogenic climate change (if it's in a left wing echo chamber), right?

      Sorry if I seem a little confused, I just want to understand the scientific method a little better.

    We don't need to poison our air and water to have a succesful society, and nucular is BAD. All we need is to go back to nature, get rid of all this awful progress and live simply. If I need energy I will just hitch a few unicorns to a plow! Simplify man!

    It's not a slashdot opinion - it's the idea that you can take something from someone else who spent some money producing it for sale, and instead get it for free. And then claiming it's somehow your right, or somehow noble to do it.

    I don't think you understand - IP is only real property when someone steals or makes unavailable YOUR IP. When it's someone else's IP, then it should be free and they are terrible people for trying to keep it to themselves, you know, data (i.e. popular movies that people spend tens or hundreds of millions to make) wants to be free, man!
