  1. As a Professor from an European University on Cringley: H-1B Visa Abuse Limits Wages and Steals US Jobs · · Score: 1

I totally agree with Cringely. The US is stealing our best Engineers and Scientists. They are expensive to educate and should stay in our countries. The US H-IB Visas are a curse that takes away our best students. Furthermore giving the US a competitive advantage over Europe, technology wise, because of that "brain migration" Let's hope that this becomes an issue to you over the pond, and please see if all this visa nonsense ends. Sooner rather than later. It could/should be a presidential campaign issue

"His debunking of Homeopathy (also on youtube) has so many reasoning flaws (even on scientific methodology) that is sometimes pitiful."

"Could you point out some specific flaws?"

Several are pretty evident. Homeopathy, does claim that very few molecules, if any, of a substance enter into a solution. Now Mr Randi spends a huge amount of time in his presentation stating that fact and claiming that, because there are no molecules, the whole stuff is crap! Homeopaths believe that something remains there and is actually activated when the dilution is performed. The problem, they say, is that current science is unable to measure that stuff. Mr Randi looks like a 16th century person that does not believe in radio waves because he cannot see them or measure them with the equipment he has. That is totally unscientific! To debunk homeopathy, statistical and medical tests are required, and only quite recently some results have surfaced, albeit with contradictory conclusions

James Randi is intelligent, well informed, a great communicator, explains stuff well, has a decent sense of humor and so on, yet his reasoning is often biased. He does not question anything in science - which is necessary for any evolution. His debunking of Homeopathy (also on youtube) has so many reasoning flaws (even on scientific methodology) that is sometimes pitiful. I do not believe in homeopathy myself, but not for the reasons pointed out by Mr Randi.

You are missing actually the most important of them all: LittleBigPlanet. That one is a paradigm shifting game, and will actually sell PS3s by the buckloads

The other 3 you mention, are actually the most important games in the list.
Heavenly Sword, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Lair. Each of them are the only ones worth having, with the possible exceptions of GTA4. See their previews in 1up!

Yes, even the Wii. Oh and take a laugh with the Pain simulator!

Right! And the 3+ million PS3 sold so far (in just 4 months!) will count for nothing. Even with the current lower expectations, Sony will have sold about 10 million PS3 by year's end. The battle is not over for either side, but the favourite is still Blu-Ray

The problem with the Wiimote is ergonomics. You have to wave it with the wrist because of the way it was designed (like a TV remote). And you can not support your arm in any way, which will make the experience tiresome. In a way I compare it to the Eye Toy. Just useful for parties, not for extended play or playing alone. You will feel stupid waving your arms alone in front of the tv

With the PS3 controller, from the pictures and videos i saw, I can see myself with both arms in my lap and gently twisting the controller for the desired effect.

Read the book. It has NOTHING to do with the Northwind database. It is not even specifically for Microsoft SQL; it further covers DB2, Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL. Every example is provided with the respective variations for each system, which as a way to familiarize with other RDBMS is a terrific learning oportunity. Seriously, the book is extraordinary. I thought I knew SQL (and I teach that stuff!) but there are always some more tricks to learn. I would give it a 9/10.
