I think what companies don't realise that it's not really the player they have to better...it's iTunes. When it comes down to it, although the iPod is a great player, it's really it's integration with itunes that makes it work so well.
Doing something like this is just asking for trouble. I think he was incredibily stupid to even attempt this. He was asking to get caught as well. The fact that he was profiteering from it will win disapproval from both Microsoft and the people who stole and propogated the code...

Now we can move on to a safer, more secure and innovative surfing experience. The Mozilla Foundation and anyone involved with the Firefox project should be proud of a job well done.
Although I don't think MP3 will disappear completely. A lot of amatuer artists and producers use MP3 to distribute their music online. If MP3 was ever to disappear completely, it would leave a lot of artists stumped (unless they used OGG). Also, we can't really allow MS to gain control over YET another format (WMA).
I say thanks to Apple for not supporting WMA in their Ipod mp3 player.
I know if WMA gained more market share over MP3 and all those 'MP3' sites (mp3.com, mp3.com.au) etc switched to WMA, I know I would release my own music via my own website in the OGG format. Been toying around with idea of doing that anyway.

I think they are going to be spending more time curing virus infected computers than curing virus infected patients :)
