what a ringing endorsement for windows! i dont care what he says - load up slackware and plug me in - i dont care if the cord has to go up my ass, i want a hardline into my brain!
I take my 17' powerbook to class everyday - its all i can handle. I enjoy my monsterous screen, but the main reason i bought it, is because i needed a laptop that would act as a desktop as well. I only have acceess to one mac (in other words im a poor art student) so its not an option for me to have a desktop and a laptop. My living space is tiny as well, so the laptop works great. all though i do miss my 8 bay slackware box back @ my parents house..........
ha - i love how many people love to talk about apple - but when it comes down to it 1/2 the know it alls are still running a celeron 300a in their parents basement:P
Seeing as how i develope on a Mac all my sites seem to render perfectly in Safari - Firefox - Mozilla - and Opera. It usually takes me about a day to crank out a page. Then i have to leave myself 2 days to make that page compatable with IE 5 - 5.5 - and 6 with assorted javascript hacks and what not - even though IE 7 sounds like it might be a nice fix to many of my CSS issues, it's still gonna take years before everyone is running IE 7. I've actually opted into giving my clients a price cut if they just let me throw in a sniffer that excludes IE. + i can sell them on the fact that they are actually helping their clients by making them drop support for an awful product:)
i for one look foward to seeing the macromedia code cleaned out. the entire macromedia mx series is a bloated piece of junk. The only other suit that runs slower on my 1.5ghz powerbook is MS Office
