Ah yes, the 80s. I took Reagan's advice, did my patriotic duty, teamed up with MasterCard and tried to single handedly bring this nation out of the recession. You're all welcome.
Oh yeah, I think they are called Yard Jarts. We went through a few sets of those. Got quiet good at it too. Once we found that the front lawn wasn't big enough to offer a challenge so we put one target in the front yard and one in back and tossed them over the house.
"Ready?... Here they come"
...South Dakota.
1) The local Radio station's call letters are KBBL which places Springfield west of the Mississippi River.
2) In episode "Bart Star" the Hill family visits Springfield for a football game. At the end of the game Hank says "We drove 2000 miles for this?" Driving 2000 miles from Arlen, TX easily puts you in South Dakota.
3) In the episode "Old Man and the Key" Grandpa Simpson's driver's license is briefly given an extreme close up. The state abbreviation is not completely clear, but you can make out the first character. It's an 'S'.
4) And finally the clincher. In the episode "Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington" we see Congressman Bob Arnold take a bribe from a lobbyist who want's to clear cut the Springfield National Forest. Later in the episode an undercover federal agent catches Mr. Arnold in a sting that involves drilling for oil in Teddy Roosevelt head. So.... TR's head's on Mt Rushmore. Mt Rushmore's in South Dakota. Springfield is found.
