i have the iso for amd64 5.04 ubuntu, which should be the april 2005 release if i understand the naming convention correctly. looking foward to giving it a whack.
i am typing on a notebook wih windows xp 64-bit. everything but the modem worked 'out-of-the-box'. every system is different, you cant generalize. i am going try to dual boot with ubuntu once the summer semester is over. hopefully that goes well.
you have bought into the sales pitch. a mac does all of those things you mentioned, on average, better than a pc, that is why 'right-brainers' use them more. it is also a countculture cool thing to do simply becuase the pc has greater market share. if a professional is using a mac becuase it 'looks cool' and not because it gets the job done. they have a problem.
in my office we use a pc for autocad - right tool for the job - and a mac for all of our presentation graphics.
yeah, friends dont let friends live in broomfield. may as well live in kansas. if you arent within 10 minutes of the mountains, it isnt worth living here. you must be in the interlocken area. i could dig golf if it wasnt for all the social requirements/expectations.
unless you are into hiking fourteeners and the whole outdoors thing, the denver area is boring. ive been kicked out of lodo bars at 12:30a so they could close for the night. nothing happens here past 10p or so. everyone has to get up at 5a so they can hike.
that sounds like a good idea. dont over react. under the current system it uses too much fossil fuels to generate ethonal. thats all i (and the article) was saying, not that it is the only way to produce ethonal. i dont know of any electric powered heavy farm equipment yet. do you? is anyone researching that avenue?
it depends on the office culture and location. there is national forest land w/ plenty of trails about 2 minutes on bike from my office door. combine that with a shower in the building, flexible lunch breaks and you can get in a solid 30 minute ride over a 45-60 min break. which is about all you need.
the more you know the better. it is great to have an area of expertise but even better to couple that with broad knowledge. once word gets out that you know a lot, you are more apt to be kept on the job. it will keep you sharp and adaptable.
what happens if you only know unix and they switch completely to nt? what happens if you know unix and more nt than many of the nt specialists?

it is a waste. perhaps a better solution would be to have your pal and mine, clippy pop up during the first 5 launches of -replaceable program here - and say......'you know, there are other programs that do this, should i google "media players" now?'
can you prove that assertion? for the unemployment number to fall, there still has to be less people loosing jobs or no one loosing a job, which is still a good thing. incidentally, i have known a number of people who intentionally dont get a job until their benefits run out.
the article said 'you couldnt do it because you know your dad is alive' so if i hire some random guy, who doesnt know my dad is alive, gave him a package with all the details on his mission, told him not to open it until he was back in 1952, could he do it?
if we manage to create AI, why couldnt some other more advanced civilization have created us? the only difference would be the components of the life form. ie. silicon vs. flesh.
perhaps we were intelligently designed by a life form that evolved from nothing?
over the air you are more likely to watch commercials. i have never seen commercials in a torrent of a tv show. that is the rub. that is the view of the execs - i agree with you.
through revolts led by men who had considerable political influence. how do you get political influence? by working in the 'system'. as weapons technology progresses i think this kind of revolution is less and less likely, particularly without help from outside governments.
the point of my original post wasnt revolution, just that you arent going to change copyright law, drug laws, free speech, access to information/ideas the government doesnt want you to have, etc. through breaking those laws. it lends legitmency to those who endorse those laws. they can point and say 'trouble maker' and you have lost the pr war.
if it goes national- instant, precise ratings.
let me get this right... ...i PAY for the content then get a crappy resolution because my monitor is out of date? yeah, that is really going to work.

i thought alanis was god, or maybe this is him , or was it george? one tricky deity.

expanded w/ cartoon, sci-fi etc. is roughly $420/year ... ...hmmm, 420...
i like my $35 rabbit ears, letterdude comes in just fine.
all jedi are known to have force abilities. all christians are not known to have any mystical abilities.

i recommend rune or unreal.
"The fossil energy expended during production alone, he concluded, easily outweighs the consumable energy in the end product".
so that base is covered. ethanol is just a way to keep some farmers in business. it does cut down on smog too. but at what price?
sounds like a rave to me...
i am impressed. pirated adobe software is all over my campus. i dont know if there is a linux veriosn but... "$384 Adobe Creative Suite"

could that be considered theft? if they sued, would they have a chance of winning?

exactly, 'implied' by the submitter that he/she thinks more than 5% download movies.
'admitted' also implies more than 5% download movies...
the fair tax would cover strippers and drug dealers and high power execs and tourists from other countries and, well anyone who buys non-essentials.
