the 'crimes' you listed are intrinsically non-violent crimes and generally only affect the 'criminal'. theives can go either way, i know most convenience stores around here that get robbed also get shot up.

does this program apply only to high-security prisons? i dont know. but you're right, there needs to be a distinction. in the interim write your senator and represenatives.

TFA says that an inmate was able to pass through the prison and stalk another inmate who was then murdered. this is supposed to help track inmates more efficiently. a red flag might go up if inmate A follows inmate B from a distance of 50' for a couple hours.

also i dont think many (if any) states chain inmates together anymore. i know there was controversy in s. dakota when the then (motorcyclist killing) governer reinstated 'chain gangs'.

i put forth that you are trying to deny designers from having it their way. if a designer wants ultimate control over how their creations are viewed they should be allowed to have the ability to counter your changes. you are free not to view their work. by and large i dont think it really matters in the context of a website.

i dont see it as mind control. i see it as saying 'try to look at something from a different perspective. give new ideas, compositions a chance' after that, do whatever you want. if i sell you a painting and tell you it goes this way, you then turn it 45 degrees and say, 'naw, i like this' thats fine. you at least opened your mind for a moment. that is all i ask.

there is a difference between saying 'consider this idea' and 'you must think this idea' so view a site as intended then do what you will with it.

you are correct, nothing stops you from viewing things how you want, do it on acid or with purple glasses. you may even glean a deeper understanding of the subject matter. you can use whatever os/browser you want, your life, your choice.

who says the point of a website isnt to convey art? my website conveys art and information. by conveying art through my website potential clients get a taste of what to expect by hiring me. you are focused on vewing webpages as words. to me images convey much more than words ever could.

if i client wants me to design something, i dont want them to come along and mix it up after the fact, why hire me? at the same time you could mix up my site and ask me to design something with those new ideas in mind, happens all the time. people come and say i liked 'x' can you add 'y' and 'z' to it?

i never said anything about considering it a crime to change how you personally view a website. i am just trying to convey to you that sometimes things are displayed a certain way for a reason. i am not trying to force someone to think a certain way. if they dont understand my art or interpret in in thier own way thats fine, thats art. everyone gets a different feeling, but the underlying context is often always there.

the point is that is he feels his web design is a work of art and he is trying to convey and spark certain feelings / emotions. artists can be fickle when it comes to their work.

no, not really. advertisers pay to show commercials which in turn pay for the show (radio works exclusively this way). your monthly subscription to cable pays for infrastructure and maintenance of the delivery system. why should i be able to copy a library book? if i check it out i am able to read it on my own time without being forced to read an advertisement. and since i am paying for this service via taxes it falls under the second condition of my first post. to be able to view the material on my own time. it just so happens that the contract with the library states that i bring it back. lastly most books state you cant reproduce this book but you can cite it as a source.

since we are being asked what we want, that is what i want in regards to tv.

society created libraries to preserve knowledge. we let people check the book out, read it and bring it back. we let them access reference material too. they arent giving copies to their friends becuase it is cost/time prohibitive to copy a book. my local libraries allows someone to copy 10 pages at a time for ten cents a page. multiply that by 300 pages add in the time it takes, even at minimum wage it adds up, just buy the book.

if i were a person who paid for cable (i just have rabbit ears) in the first place i would pay more to not have commercials. shows could be longer to fill the time slot or the same length, either way would be fine.

and more advertising in the shows is fine as long as it isnt overt. walk through my house, look in my fridge, 'advertising' everywhere. i might even tell a friend i like brand X.... ...but if the actor turns to the camera and hold up his soda, smiles, cue sparkle. that would be a problem.

internet shareing will always be there. personally i think it is more trouble than it is worth to find a good torrent (havent used bittorrent for a good two years now) for the latest shows or search for music files that are actually complete and of a decent quality. i would just rather buy the season on DVD and watch when i have the time.
