  1. better idea on Linux Counter Part 2 · · Score: 1

Slashdotting the Linux-counter in this way is not such a great idea. At least not as long as it runs on it's present machine.

Putting a link to it an a visible place IS a good idea. How about putting a reference to the counter in the "Features" area?

Sure. Novel lost a lot of a money, M$ gained it. Who cares if anybody uses win3.1 NOW?

  4. hyper macs on distributed.net? on DES III starts Today (Upgrade Those Clients!) · · Score: 1
Something weird happened with the OS-statystics on the distributed.net.
The "total number of blocks cracked by Mac clients" has jumped from 321536935 to 1174254928 in only nine days (Jan 5th to Jan 14)!

    To be clearer: 1174254928/321536935 = 3.65..!

The best thing is that I have e-mailed some of the distributed.net people (nugget first, later also dbaker, moose and silby) to ask what's going on. Imagine what have they answered? Nothing.

Am I the only one who doesn't like this?
  5. IDG's report on Infoworld Article on Linux Growth · · Score: 1
17% of the SERVER market, based entirely on SALES, i.e. according to them 17% of the people who actually decided to pay for an web/ftp/whatever server decided they would rather buy a Linux package than anything else.

Two important words here are SERVERS (i.e. we are not talking about win95/98) and SALES (i.e. we are not talking about the ftp-downloads either)

    Hi

Linux accounts for more than twice as much cracked keys per day as Mac!
And it's share is growing, too. Yesterdays shares per OS:

    Windows: 66.1%

    Linux: 14.0 %

    MacOS: 6.2%
Have a look at this graphs for details.
