Yeah, sure. The most any of the Battlestar Nuerotica crew could manage would be to kill a few red-shirts. After that the Neurotica would be an expanding ball of debris.
Lost was a program which I tried to avoid but occasionally I would see bits of it. If "they" want to kill Star Trek, those responsible for Lost will probably do it.
If reading and writing abilities are necessary for reproduction then the rising generations in the US and Australia are doomed. Trendy left-wing P.C. "education" is failing to produce literate students.

Recently there have been a number of cases mentioned on Australian "Current Events" TV programs where speeding convictions have been thrown out after the victims were able to prove that the speed cameras were reading more than 20kph high, or that neither they nor their registered vehicles were anywhere near the site of the alleged offence at the stated time. The (I think) Victorian state government was forced to recalibrate their entire network of fixed postion speed traps.
Because that's what most of the audience seems to like (me too), and that's what most of the "Suits" in TV-land seem to think the audience wants, and it is they who decide whether a show is renwed or dropped. Remenber how quickly "Crusade", the "Babylon 5 spin off", disappeared when Straczynski refused to include more "sex and violence" at the behest of the money men.
The big problem with Firefly, BattleStar Neurotica, and Enterprise is that all of them are/were about "losers". For a TV show (SF/Space Opera) to work there has to be lots of "boldly going" and "kicking ET butt". The "good guys" in all the episodes of any of these which I saw, were always running away or on the defensive.
That said, Firefly was more watchable than the other two.
