My parents lived the majority of their life at "the bottom" in Peru. We came to the US for opportunity. No it was not a guarantee, but the US offers the best opportunity that can be found anywhere in the world. Is it a perfect place? No. Is everything there always completely and totally fair? Of course not. But thru their HARD WORK here, where 60 hours a week actually pays off rather than scraping by in Peru, they were able to help me go to college. I hope the generations after me will be even better than me also.
What I wish people could see, is that capitalism is not just a benefit for the rich. The rich prosper in EVERY economic system. Capitalism offers the poor the best opportunity, the best chance possible. Do we have a disadvantage compared to those that start off wealthy? Yes, but sometimes that is our driving force and makes us stronger. Knowing that we have to work that much harder can help at times. Even a cursory glance at those that have 'made it' show many who had very, very humble beginnings.
You sir, by your own words, are the clueless one. First off, because everyone DOES NOT work hard. If you continue to insist on that point, there is no hope for you. Also, working hard does not always mean physically taxing work, but often its the most difficult type of work... mental. Many many people in our old community would rather dig ditches their entire life than apply their minds. I see this in the same relative way here too.
So, please, continue from your high horse, prentending as if you know everything about what poor people experience. And you can also continue to remain clueless and worsen the situation for others.
Its funny how you jump all over the parent for using an example where parties broke the law, therefore you say, his example is invalid. Then *in the next sentence* you do the exact same thing. Being hypocritical has never been so fun!
Ok, Im familiar with those chapters. And here is my invitation: Since its a 'failure'... you can go live in a non-market economy. Oh whats that? Every non-market economy is a sh!thole? Its funny that you type that idea while simulateously using products that were created in the *least* regulated off *all* industries... the computer industry. Which also... just by coincidence Im sure happens to be where we see the most explosive progress ever seen in the history of man. Go ahead and continue to lobby for more gov't intervention... history vindicates how well that has worked. (insert sarcasm)

You must not be very in tune with the latest trends then. Havent you heard? Dont you read slashdot? Its the latest craze to bash corporations for being 'greedy'. The morality police here have dubbed it as EVIL to produce goods that people *want* to pay for and to concurrently create profits for oneself. It allows everyone who cares to participate in this absurdity to get warm fuzzys inside and to have an opportunity to get on a big, tall, high horse from which they can point down and scorn all those who correctly recognize all the good that corporations allow the *common* man. You dont even need to know anything! Just follow the croud and the mantras of the masses! (For examples please refer to current pop culture i.e. movies/ music, etc) Of course, what makes it even more fun, is to simutaneously be using the products of the so called 'evil corporations' while engaging in such hype (cell phones, automobiles, computers, electronics, meds to cure your ailments, clothing, food... basically every single thing you ever use or come into contact with). Its never been so fun to be hipocritical!

History vindicates the advantages of market economies. Even a cursory glance shows this. Is it perfect and without any problems? Of course not, but I invite you to show what is. To me, arguing for gov't intervention into market process b/c of some perceived problem, is like arguing that since your windows computer crashes, then we should mandate that a manual sliderule be used in order to provide a 'check' for every single calculation the computer performs.
It seems to me that whenever gov't is invited into the process (except in the minimal case to provide a rule of law and prevent illegal force or fraud) they just muck it up much worse than would have been the case if free-market competition was allowed to take place. Even if a so-called "monopoly" exists, at least you still have the *lawful* choice of whether or not to pay them, rather than a gov't run program in which you go to prison if you dont pay to subsidize it thru taxes.
First off, a concession is not legally binding. They are still counting votes and if it happens that Kerry wins, then he wins. ALl this business about votes not counting is really a worry that you shouldnt have cause its not happening in ANY circumstance. Hope this clears it up.
Isnt America great? Good luck in your new nation. And I wish you good luck when you move to the one after that b/c Im sure things wont go exactly as you wish there either.

I enjoy living here precisely b/c so many people seem to dispise my country. Its so satisfying to hear people who secretly envy our nation publicly condemn it. Thank you good sir, you made my day.
1. This is the fault, directly and indirectly, of American Capitalist Democracy because... (insert stupid reason here) and therefore is proof that the system doesnt work correctly.
2. The Bush Administration is responsible in full (insert circularly reasoned argument here) for Canada's socialist failings and concurrently its reduction of freedoms as evidenced by this example.
3. Kerry is the only sensible solution to (insert totally unrelated problem here that will therefore boost confidence in him from the ignorant).
