If it were open source data, after a while would it have more eye-candy and little added functionality and the mail list would be flooded with flame wars over meaningless minutia? Or not?
I always suspected the Ecological Stalinists want us to go back into the caves. *Knowing* they dream of slums of totally impoverished illegal aliens is even more frightening.
WTF you mean that District 9 - like 1984 - was not meant as a blueprint for a society?
They can a bit - most of them suppport higher baud rates like 230, 460 or even 920 kbaud instead of 115. If you're flashing something from a PC that makes a difference.
Well the problem here is that you have an expectation of privacy, just like the movie studios had an expectation that copying their stuff was impossible. Or buggy whip manufacturers had expectation that buggy drivers would buy their products. Now when technology changes it's not the government's job to insulate people - at least that's what people here said when the AACS key leaked.
So buggy whip manufacturers and movie studios need to find another business model and your privacy turns out to be an illusion.
Your GPS position is just a number. I thought we decided back when the AACS key leaked that it was silly for people to complain when numbers were posted on the internet. In fact the Streisand affect clearly applies here - complaining about it just makes the problem worse.
What's the alternative? The courts of the country being clogged up with loads of civil law suits for every last accident?
How about this. Insurance is not compulsory but if you have an accident and damage my Porsche and you can't pay you will be butchered and your organs sold at auction to cover the cost. Or maybe converted into an indentured labourer, if my other workers think you'd be more useful that way.
The difference is that Führer Ballmer would not allow such an outrage as OEMs shipping an old version. And API Reichsführer Hitler will personally shoot any developer that breaks binary compatibility with his Luger.
It's not that hard. Only depend on APIs present in the base version you target. If you can take advantage of more recent ones then use GetProcAddress. People have been doing this for years.
Actually Win32 has been a perfectly capable API since the NT days so it's possible to write pretty much anything and have it working on NT and up.
WTF do you mean by "write it"? Did you mean, edit the sudoers file? Yeah, you could do it that way, I suppose. Or did you mean, enter your password? Nope, sudo will cache it for a certain length of time.
Hmm, let's perform a MOTU analysis on this.
HE-MAN is typing away at his computer and enters his root password. SKELETOR introduces knockout gas. HE-MAN is knocked out and SKELETOR has root access.
Hence caching passwords is insecure. I HAVE THE POWER!
I quite agree. I fire bullets over the heads of my students as they program too. Makes the bastards learn to duck.

He probably feels guilty about killing John Smith.
"John Smith died because MS Exchange stopped working on his doctor's computer. The culprit? <evil voice>Open Source Software!</evil voice>"
Really? My God! That's terrible!
You'll never take me alive, Copper!
BLAM!
From the tone of his post I'd say very frequently.

You need to buy one of my tiger repelling rocks.

It could be worse - Deniazi for example.

Just brainstorming here.

Styluses have their uses. I use Pleco, an excellent Chinese dictionary. I'd have no chance of writing traditional Chinese characters without a stylus.
Ring the bell suckah, schools in!
