future? We curb civil liberties by doing all this stupid shit to "think of the children," but we fail to think of the childrens futures where they will live in a restricted society. Why don't we start thinking of the childrens adult lives and how fucked they will be living in a fascist society.
As did applets, as did activex. If macromedia wanted flash to be a serious tool, they should have developed a better platform for their actionscript to be developed in, because frankly the flash studio sucks. it comes no where close to real languages like java, c# for doing massive web projects.
>> Even expert opinions are deeply divided, ranging from 'more cores are absolutely necessary' to 'why do I need something more than my five-year-old PC system?'
stab yourself in the face. Sure, for average joe downloading itunes for their ipod, 4 cores aren't necessary. But people like me wanting to roll out a database cluster, getting a cpu with four cores could save me $75,000 per CPU running M$ SQL Server. Oh the dream of running 16 cores on 4 CPU's. I think I'd like that savings as would anyone looking to build a beefy server and not get raped by MS or Oracle liceneses.
I don't understand why ANYONE relies on the gov't for anything, because they do shit like this. Scientists have been bitching forever about how restrictive it is, then golly, move to the private sector and vote to have a smaller government.
Sorry, but my blood pressure would rise if some cop comes up to me and starts interrogating me in the middle of an airport. most people almost have a heart attack when they are driving and you see the blue and red lights roll up behind you. I don't see how this is the slightest bit effective.
As the content pushers (Circuit City, Best Buy, Walmart) try to go into these new arenas to sell content. What happens if WalMart goes to the RIAA and MPAA and says "we want to be able to sell the content however we want." Will/. cheer then as they push their weight around to shake up the *IAA monopolies?
simple as that. the state can watch you, but you cannot watch it. Pretty amusing considering we all pay their way. Sort of like you buying CD and getting punched in the face at random by the cashier and there is NOTHING you can do about it. I never understand people that call for bigger government.
This is why you can't rely on the police, the courts, judges, anyone. They all work for the government, they are all agents of the state. Much like how the White House can get cases dismissed, judges are just another long reaching arm of our massive, bloated goverment.
I love how their obvious solution is to buy monopoly protection through legislation, instead of altering their business models to adapt to changing markets.
These "secretary" oh i mean "administrative executive assistant" days are just pointless. if someone is doing a good job, you tell them. they don't need a special day of appreciation for someone doing their job.
Ah yes, blame Microsoft. Actually, it is NOT running off of ASP, it is Cold Fusion running off a Microsoft Cold Fusion Engine. If anything, it is the crap CF language.
In a situation like this? Assuming the exploit isn't looking to just get the text of the Powerpoint, but somehow index your machine. Dropping powerpoint in a seperate vm, once there is a known exploit like this would be sure to "partition" your HD would it not? while not an optimal solution, it seems to be a possible short term one.
You have large maintnence costs because no one properly plans up front for the long term. People want to see something and they want to see something fast. No one sits down to write the proper documents, no one sits down to plan ahead, they think for the short term only. Which leads to long term problems down the road. At least, that is what I see as major issues on things i have worked on.
people don't want to make the initial investment to plan ahead, so they end up spending much more in development costs because no one decided where the product should go.
As someone that develops, it is an amazing tool. Right now I want to test load balancing for my web application to ensure everything works correctly. I can setup a load balancing cluster, install it all, then throw requests at it all on my PC. It allows me to purchase no new hardware, no new software, and ensure that I am getting the results I desire.
While it doesn't allow me to stress test, it does allow me to test other aspects.
Plus i can install every OS/Browser combination I need and I only need to worry about diskspace. Plus, once you create the images, you never have to reinstall the OS, you just clone it. Awesome piece of software.
Sounds like they are trying to drum up new "support" for shuttle missions by doing something "cool" to get people to be interested in the space program again. Meh.
www.webhost4life.com and www.serverintellect.com. I have been happy with both. While not having used their dedicated services ( i went straight to colocation ), i have been more than happy with their shared/virtual services.
It is their product, if you didn't pay for it I don't see how you can complain that they aren't going to support you or allow you to continue using it. If you want software to be free that much, use Linux and stop complaining.
I would think that most people that "rely" on the internets to make friends typically are the outcasts that don't have loads of friends. I hang out with a lot of people, but still know plenty from the internet alone.
I don't think just knowing people by the net and never meeting them is healthy. You need human to human interaction.
So does my development time. I swear, i'd be done my own software if i didn't have to support 30 different OS's (Win Service Packs, ect), 40 different versions of web browsers and so on. I can only imagine what IE7 is going to break.
plus, anyone who is running a Win2K3 server knows there are already security issues, the IE7 patch already came out.
Till they can come up with a new idea.

They realized they are a dying medium and google could possibly be a way to drive viewers to their online content.

How is this news? People have been using proxies forever to get around blocks.

What kind of fairyland do you live in?

Boy, color me shocked.
Sad that this "protection" we all pay for is causing headaches for people who are minding their own business.

~~~ zomg drm is like so sucky
although, there aren't many musicians opinions i would respect. but good to see at least some "major" artist is pulling against it.
I'd love to know.
Here is an article how Linux IS Capitalist
