It sounds like that Laser Cube thing HP or Compaq were working on. It was a glass cube and you wuld use lasers to 'burn' the glass on the inside and frost it, to represent a bit.
What about a VoIP client/server system that utilized Zimmerman's PGP idea, the public keys would be stoed on a directory server, and data would be encrypted client-side before transmition. I suppose that a plugin could be developed for Skype?

I knew something like this would happen. I suppose it could be used as an advantage for showing somone how good you doing, but your mate would get a bit angry when Pac-Man flicks on halfway through X-Files.
Umm... Wouldn't it be a bit of a security risk using VoIP. Hardly anyone phreaks anymore because they can easily be spotted. Using VoIP, a hacker could simply do packet sniffing or the like. People come up with this stuff and don't think about security. Copper may be slow, but it's harder to hack (in the aspect I described above). Plus it would mean MASSIVE re-numbering of phones and everyone would need to have a VoIP phone. If you were a poor old granny who coundn't afford one, then you'd be stuffed.
