My understanding is that classic adventure games in the style of DOTT simply weren't selling as well tacky but good looking and immediately exciting genres were. The bean-counters spoke and the adventure game kicked the bucket.
I played until recently. There are no premade characters per se, but there are things like the "bulky" character model, and individual items like a visor that resembles cyclop's, a haircut that resembles wolverine's, things like that.
My own personal view is that since the character creation options run into the billions, Marvel is making an ass out of itself with this lawsuit. Perhaps next they will sue Bic or HB for making drawing implements with no safeguards to prevent the user from sketching Marvel characters.
P.S. I am never buying or paying for another Marvel product ever again.
I play Planetside too, and yesterday I realised that my in-game stats were taking some of the fun out of the game - so I turned them off. I actually caught myself thinking "Kill/Death ratio unbalanced - must camp spawn point." Which is crazy, because I hate spawn campers, and I hate being spawn camped.
I'm with you on public stats too - I don't care about them. I don't care who kills the most, or with what. I don't aspire to be like them, my aim is to have as much fun as possible.
P.S. The current Balance in Planetside is worth a topic all on its own.
Yes, I remember the 90s version. I could never decide whether I hated it more than the Iron Man toon of the same period. To this day the two battle in my mind for the title of "Weakest Marvel Cartoon Ever". Mind you, they both made me appreciate the 90s X-Men cartoon. It's a minor miracle that Marvel didn't **** that one up too badly.
P.S. I remember laughing hysterically when the Atlanteans invaded New York in that 90s FF cartoon. The animators drew about 3 lame pseudo-tanks and maybe 8 or so troopers. And that was the mighty Atlantean army.
A game "that might involve animals" ?
It'll star George Lucas then! *drum beat* Thank you, thank you. And for my next trick of Lucas-bashing...
