I'll bite...
We all know that a couple of degrees can save a good bit over a years time. (Somewhere around 5 to 10% IIRC)
Will a couple of degrees make that much of a difference? Likely not in the general lifespan of the equipment.
Will A LOT of dgrees make a difference? I'm willing to bet so.
I'd like to agree with TFA. The more I wreck my brain at work, the more likely I am to give it a break at home. On the flip side, The more bored I am from 9 to 5, the more likely I am to want to challenge myself.
Just in the same way as I find myself more drawn to do carpentry or art work, when I've been fillout forms and doing repetitive, monotonous tasks at work just to get the feeling of "creating something." You've gotta flex all the "muscles" of your brain to get a good workout. Mashing buttons and using quick reflexes are just as important as creating long term strategy, or plotting which Civilization to play politics with.
Life is all about finding that balance, and sometimes games vs reality is a great way to do it.
Why didn't this follow up article include a Return on Investment number? It would be nice if he would have included the cost of the install and compare it to the difference in his electric bills. I'm curious to see how long it will take the install to pay for itself.
There's nothing wrong with "eating out." You just have to be smart about what you eat when you are out.
I eat out almost every day of the week, sometimes twice a day, and have actually lost weight doing it.
Here's a little tool to help show you ways to eat smarter when eating out.

Note that jiffies (in 32-bits) wrap around after 497 days, which used to cause a benign bug where the uptime display would wrap around to zero after that time period. No crash, though.
Is there a fix for this issue? I still have a Slackware 10 box that does this.
I've worked for many comapanies in many IT based positions. Spyware and Virus troubles are a terrible burden. The more computers/users you deal with, the harder it is. On a Windows based network, the best step is to cut Spyware at the source. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...
Use firewalls and such to block internet traffic that couldn't possibly be work related. For example, blocking some major game sites by address, such as partypoker.com, games.yahoo.com, and so on.
Block port access used by instant message services, such as port 5190(I think that's the one) which is used by AIM.
Set your mail server to not allow executable attachments whenever possible.
Encourage the use of Mozilla based browsers, rather than IE. If IE must be used, disable BHO's (Broswer Helper Objects) to prevent 3rd party software from attaching to IE. (I've found this seems to be the root of most spyware.)
If at all possible, use a web based e-mail system, rather than Outlook or IE.
And most importantly, keep a good Antivirus system on *ALL* machines and force them to autoupdate themselves.
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Free coffee every day, pick up the tab for an occassional pizza, and flexible hours.
and me with no mod points... Greatest tip I had ever recieved. MS document formats are garbage. RTF opens in *ANY* and *EVERY* editor I've ever used.
Most of my pass"words" are really phrases anyway.
Mine too. 24 for me. :(
The 24th is my Birthday. :(
