I think the article missed one of the possible sources of annoyance, in that the games will not only need an active connection to the interwebs on your side, but also a listening Ubisoft server on the other side. What happens if Ubisoft's servers don't run, or happen to "not find" a savegame, or it gets corrupted or anything? Can we then blame Ubisoft and demand reparation? This strikes as such a bad idea on so many levels that it's hard to believe any company would go down that path.
So, no more Ubisoft games for me, I suppose. (Oh, wait, the last PC game I bought must be at least 5 years old, and I much prefer playing table-top games (you know, the ones with social gaming built-in right from the start?;-) ), or console stuff if it "has" to be electronic, so I guess I shouldn't feel concerned too much:-) )
+1 for puppet too. Great community support, great support from the devs, very active IRC channel, with some guys from high profile companies actively using puppet and at least contributing to the ML and IRC.
It seems I can't get the software, because it's not available on the german store... Has anyone had any luck getting the software with a non US account?
Mmh, I can't remember being able (all financial considerations put aside) to buy a Soyouz, an Arianne V or a Spache Suttle for that matter. Does this mean they don't exist?
I use the "music player daemon" to play my music, and it does great with my somewhat big (17,5k titles for 50 days straight listening) music collection, link here: http://www.musicpd.org/ . Memory usage at the moment (playing some FLACs...) is somewhere around 8MiB. You also have a ton of clients available, so you should be able to find one that suits your needs:-)
+1, though the writing style might be a little disorienting (the chapters are not only first-person views from different characters, but they also don't follow each other in time...).

Siemens, not Seimens...
Second that, although I use it in combination to Things (by CulturedCode) on Mac/iPhone.

They hacked firmware 2.0, which will run on current iPhones, there's no mention of new hardware for this stuff...

Don't bother
Don't click: Minicity link. This is getting so boring...

Ubuntu 5.1 != Ubuntu 5.10. The first one doesn't even exist...
