Engaging customer base = good. However, simply because something works on the micro level doesn't mean it scales to the macro level. I somehow doubt that having hundreds of artists flood 4chan would result in all of them getting increases in sales.
It is kind of like "if i stand up at a baseball game I can see better, therefore if everyone stands up at the baseball game everyone can see better".
The robber barons of the 20's were doing things perfectly legally. So they were moral. The Chinese kill dissidents. Perfectly legal. Companies used to pollute rivers before EPA laws were passed. Perfectly legal. In your mind this is all fine and good because no laws were broken.
We have laws precisely to reign in people like you.
Go fuck yourself you smug little prick. And you shouldn't have a problem with me saying that as it is perfectly legal.
So what you are saying is that the places Google really does business has a weighted average tax rate of 2.4%? You really believe that?
No one is saying that Google should get double and triple taxed. But effectively they are not playing taxes at all. It is not like they are getting the majority of their revenue in countries with no corporate tax, they are simply reassigning revenue to these low-tax rate countries.
1) You apparently can't read. That had nothing to do with what the original poster said. Essentially he got modded troll because someone disagreed with what he did post
2) Your "earned overseas, and kept overseas and spent overseas" is crap. Read TFA:
"Google Inc. cut its taxes by $3.1 billion in the last three years using a technique that moves most of its foreign profits through Ireland and the Netherlands to Bermuda"
So, they shift income from countries where they really made their earnings to countries where they did not... just to avoid taxes.
Legal. Apparently. Wrong. Yes. So unless you think "Good" means "Complying with the law", this is not right.
Brilliant. I love the rationalization process. I guarantee you that if Microsoft used its corporate servers and Windows base to DDOS open source supporting software, that Slashdot would cry "foul". Yet in this instance, a sizeable percentage of Slashdot loves the DDOS of Simmons.
Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from the consequences of that speech.
I agree with almost everything you said. However, one should be protected against destructive "consequences" to ones actions. Boycotting, as you suggest, is acceptable. Shutting down a website is not.
Blocking a route to free speech is the same as being against it. Yes, certainly Gene has other routes to get his point across. But the approval of the Slashdot crowd for this type of behavior is sickening. Basically if you don't approve of what someone says, then it is okay to do whatever you want.
I wasn't sure to which of the many posts to reply, so I will choose the top level post. Moore's law isn't about compute speed it is about transistor density. Thus, invoking the law here is inappropriate.
Moore's Law has practically become a religious cult.... interpret it however you choose.
Ummmm. No. Again you prove just how ignorant you are.
Burials have occurred for a minimum of 80,000 years. There is a great deal of archeological evidence for this. It may have occurred for thousands of years before that. Cremation is a much younger tradition. So, once again, your assertions are wrong. You might have an axe to grind against religion, but it definitely impairs your ability to critically thing.
Nah. It would just continue on its route barely affected and now in black hole form. The positive is that it might pass through the earth with neither affected to much.

As long as it is done legally, yes.

Quit the apologetics.

I almost never agree with the parent poster. However, who in the hell marked the parent post "troll"? Some Google fanboy?
That would be 1,024 songs then.
Blowing Bubbles is wrong unless he consents.
Silly Slashdotters.
10 bits of music
Now that is one hell of a compression algorithm!
But Ben Franklin also said things under his real name. So the key word "must" is violated...

130,000 year actualy, in Israel. Which kind of reinforce my point.
1) Cite your source.
2) You really think there were Hebrew people in Israel at 130,000 BC? ROFL
What twisted logic. They don't like what he says so they take down his website.Yup, this screams "I love free speech"
And yes, there are other ways to communicate. Anonymous or any other entity does not have the right to limit that free speech.
And apparently there are a ton of anon supporters out there who just don't get this.
So, in effect, Anonymous is proving that they don't believe in free speech. Brilliant.
And I sincerely hope I figure out how to type tags correctly.
,i>I see it depends on a continuos supply of sunlight; but what if it rains for days in a row?
I sincerely hope this was a joke or a troll. If the natives can't figure out how to get fresh water when it is raining, then we have a real problem.

There is no subtraction... And this proof has been offered by folks a lot more renown in the field of mathematics that me
I am particularly amused by the 'redundant' moderation.
I'd love to see a story just about the drill itself and how in the heck they manufacture and transport it.

Because Bill Gates is evil and Ballmer snacks on the brains of disabled orphans.
