You're just pissed off that your comment got moderated down, and for good reason.
As a matter of fact, you have absolutely no basis for what you just said. Informative, insightful, and relevant comments get moderated up regardless of the subject matter. If a comment isn't pro linux, but has GOOD REASONING as to why linux isn't good, it's labelled informative. Get your facts straight before you start slinging accusations.
I wouldn't count this kid as a Genius, but he's pretty smart to pop the hood, and connect the wires. He's going to have a long, and successful career either as a hacker, or a car theif.;)
When I was 6, I used to take Tiger LCD games apart, small household appliances, telephones, and basically any small electronic unit I could get my hands on (Including my Commodore when I got it) and experiment with them. I didn't know of many other kids who did similar things, but it's not unheard of.
What I find interesting, is that people are CONSTANTLY comparing Linux, and other open source projects, to closed source markets. You CAN'T do that. Open Source uses a completely different development model, and in turn, has completely different distribution channels. You can compare Linux to Windows as an Operating System, but you can't compare it's retail value. Sure, you can easily say "Well, you can buy Linux in stores same way as windows, right?" Yes, that's right, But can you download Windows from the internet? (Legally?)
Open Source is not streamed to the market in the same manner as closed source. Microsoft makes windows, then in turn sells it to OEMs and Retailers, who then sell it to End Users either as a standalone product, or bundled with a system. Open source products (such as Linux) are written by thousands of hackers across the globe, and bundled in distributions available for download or purchase. You can't compare the methods of distribution, because they use different means of marketing from the start.
This is the main reason Linux will be so successful, and why Windows will eventually Fail, or change it's distribution method.
heh. I could see it now. People would have wild parties on "Voter's Eve" and get slammed drunk, then vote the next day with a throbbing hangover, or possibly still drunk. I don't think I'd want THAT elected person in office.
As an experiment, I opened up a Hotmail Account, and I just let it sit. I never used it, and never published it's address to anyone. Within 2 weeks, it was getting regular E-Mails for "Affordable dental / Optical plan" and "See the best Cocksuckers HERE!" Makes you wonder how much MSN is getting in Kickbacks for them to shut up.
Needless to say, this crappy mail ALSO pounds the accounts of people who don't really want it. (not just hotmail, but I get the occasional spam e-mail in my ISP account too. I've been very careful of letting that addy get out.) My philosophy is, if you don't ask for it, you shouldn't get it. You can say "Yeah, but do you ASK for television commercials? Isn't THAT spam?" Yes, you DO ask for it, and no it's NOT spam. You ask for the sponsored advertising because you are using the product (watching the show). Since you don't pay for the show, commercials aren't a problem. But, when you have an E-mail address to talk to friends and family, you wouldn't want porno ads flooding in. There's a difference.
When we see laws in effect Nationally, it will be a better place. However, laws aren't going to stop all of the Spam. People can still forge headers, and close accounts on AOL. But hopefully, it'll decrease significantly.
I'm sure the account managers have special account flags, so people with disabilities can have full access.
As for the Son-going-to-get-money-for-mom, I would assume there would be a system implemented (Similar to authorized account users on credit cards) that would allow immediate family members to use the system.
You're right about the deBeers thing. Over in europe, there's literally millions of diamonds locked up in basements, and occasionally, they'll let 2 or 3 thousand get exported. They're certainly not a rare commodity, just rare to the general public.
Many sellers blame the lack of bidders on the ignorance of the buyers. "Most people don't know what these things are worth," said Gerald Provost, a Web consultant who is hawking his E-reward.com and Shoppersalley.com for several thousand apiece.
Um, I think it's actually that most people DO know what they're worth, and these idiots don't. heh

I didn't say they LOOKED awkward, I said they WERE awkward. Penguins are best suited to slide on Ice, and swim. They're not runners.
Apparently, many users aren't aware of the huge problem the early Pentium processors had, so I'll clarify. The original Pentium chips were recalled due to a bug in the FPU (Floating Point Unit). The bug misreported mathematical solutions in rare instances, and affected Pentium Chips, including the 60, 66, 75, 90 mhz lines. Intel originally denied the problem existed, then finally admitted it.

This is just further proof that Intel isn't out to make quality chips anymore, they're just out to gain market share. Intel isn't about making quality products, they're a marketing company.
AMD (who I don't particulary favor, but I respect the competition) introduced their 486 clone, and Intel pretty much kept the price of their 486 the same. AMD simply wasn't a threat to Intel. Now, however, more and more people are buying systems with the AMD processor in it, and Intel is starting to get worried. So they drop the price of their processors. That's how competition works. However while AMD is keeping their products up with their standards, Intel is lowering their standards, and introducing shoddy products that would be better given more development time.
Windows 95 was shipped WAY before it was ready. Same thing happened with the Pentium, as well as the Pentium III.

Yeah, pengiuns are cute, and it would be neet to have one waddle around the house, but have you SMELLED a pengiun lately? Ever passed the pengiun pen at a zoo? It smells terrible.
Plus, as far as I know, penguins are akin to taking a shit wherever they damn well please. So if your happy little penguin takes to using that open computer on the floor as a toilet.....

Just because a pengiun can dive deep, doesn't make them a mountain goat. Pengiuns are actually very awkward animals when it comes to balancing. Ever seen a pengiun walk?
JP was a senior OP in #HackPhreak a long time ago. At that time, he took it upon himself to remove valued ops, ban entire domains, as well as entire countries, and generally just piss anyone and everyone off. Needless to say, he was removed. Not soon enough though.
After working with him for that time period, I can easily say he's a total asshole, and likes to take everything said as it was directed at him. He got picked on a little too much in school, and now, if anyone "picks on him", his retaliation is to sue. Back when he was an op in #HackPhreak, his retaliation was to ban their entire domain/country. Some things never change.
