Actually, I'm running a 1.13 GHz (Intel) notebook right now. What with speedstep and a couple of fans in the back it's not running hot at all. Even when docked it's nice and cool. I'll tell ya something else too, when you walk around with a 1.13 GHz notebook with a 15" LCD for some reason you just feel better than everybody else. It must be because your laptop is better than their desktop or something.
The Palm V is actually destroying serial ports. It's outputting far more voltage than specs. It's possible with many systems to just plug it in and watch all other serial devices stop working on that system.
Some motherboards don't have a problem with it because the UARTs are designed better. Standard UARTs like those in Intel reference design motherboards will have a problem with the ESD output by the Palm V.
Computer OEMs like Compaq, Dell, and HP no doubt know about this problem but haven't sued 3com because at this point it would likely put them out of business with all the follow-on suits by just about everybody else.
There are really cool games out there, but some people don't have them. Look for either of the Silent Scope games (especially Silent Scope 2). The Skateboarding game is great too (I can't remember what it's called).
I went into the movie expecting crap. Not Duece Bigalow crap, but The Patriot crap. But while Duece Bigalow was funny and gave us some laughs Tomb Raider just ate asshole. All the times that we were expected to laugh I just sadly shook my head. There was nothing funny about this movie.
All the times that Laura was locked in a desperate life-or-death struggle, I was bored stiff. Unlike the game there is no chance for the main character to die. You knew she was going to live through it all so there was no excitement or suspense. There was just an hour and a half of crap. I'm thankful that I saw it, though, for one reason. It gave me something to make fun of for a couple days. Seriously, if you haven't seen it yet, it was really bad. It was Pat the Movie bad. It was Wayne's World Part II bad.
Right. The problem is, though, that the cost/price of hardware components has dropped dramatically though we've recieved more for our money.
The lower price for hardware components makes the relative cost of the operating system higher (even though the price has remained the same).
Car information. There's stuff out there, but I've been looking for information about cars and it sure wasn't on the internet. It was in hot rod magazines and many of my friends know the stuff, but there's no site that says "This is a cam shaft. This is where it goes in an engine." or "In 67-72 most 350 Chevy engines had a 9.x:1 compression ratio." (obviously not a correct example, but you surely get my drift.)
In fact, it's only by combing the internet that I've found a few places where you can actually price car parts, so if you want to shop around for something like aluminum reconditioned cylinder heads you have to go somewhere like badasscars.com but they're not exactly a known name or anything, so you don't know if the guy's full of shit or actually knows his stuff. (I'll find out pretty soon when I actually order a set of heads and get a look at them)
Basically, the internet could use more car information. Especially along the lines of rebuilding motors, choosing parts to use (IE which pistons are better, what stock parts will be just fine in a hot rod and which will absolutely need replaced, etc.)
Also, when shopping for seat covers, carpet, and headliners for my son's Mercury Comet I found that very few sites actually had prices online. One wouldn't even tell you how much stuff cost when you called them. You had to wait for them to mail you something.
I know this will sound like carping, but even though I've found most of what I've been looking for it sure hasn't been easy. I challenge someone to find the information out there on whether or not a TH350 transmission can be converted to a four speed, or what it takes to use a lockup torque converter with one. It's not going to be easy!
Sorry, but you're wrong.
Have you heard of the Dell Digital Audio reciever? It actually runs Linux. It does a little more than just play MP3s, though. It reads files from the network. A pretty cool thing.

Think "Intranet".
Of course if the company's multinational there is no night, but for an 8-5 company with no night employees the servers could all go into low power mode at midnight and wake back up at 6:00 AM.
The sound card in the Dell THX systems (it can also be purchased from the manufacturer or with non-THX certified systems") has SP/DIF out (and the sound doesn't get procesed either). You'd need a 1/8" mini din to RCA adapter, but that's what's sold with the 885 speakers anyway.
The Dell THX certified systems all have a few things in common.
First of all, they all have an nVidia GeForce 2 or GeForce 2 Ultra. Secondly, they all have the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card. The Santa Cruz has a digital out port called the Versa Jack. The Versa Jack can act as analog in, digital out, and stuff like that. The Versa jack sends the AC-3 (WinDVD sends the output directly to the sound card which just passes it through without processing it at all) digital output straight to the speakers which decode it.
In this case, the EMI shouldn't interfere with the output from the sound card. The speakers are the Altec Lansing ADA 885s. Hopefully this gives some people a better understanding of what we're talking about.
The *only* change that should happen in the current *nix boot sequences is to ad Majel Barrret's voice announcing key checkpoints , such as "going multiuser" and daemon initialization . . .:)
What kind of idiot wouldn't want James Earl Jones announcing the steps of the boot process?
"This is Multiuser"
"Now initializing X Windows"
"Restarting the system"
"System Halted"
I'm sure with all the work he's done we could piece together snippets of movies and voiceovers he's done. Remember, he was in "Cabin in the Sky" way back in the forties.
That wouldn't be the way to go at all. Buy the Linksys WPC11 wireless cards. They're only $150 if you have a laptop and $150 + $49 for the PCI carrier if you have a desktop. 802.11B is the future, son. It's a nice fast network and not too costly either. (By the way, the carrier doesn't work in Linux yet, but they're working on the drivers.)
See, it doesn't matter how flaky the medium is. Everything is expanded to ram anyway. Right? So the only time it matters is at boot. Right? So if you have a floppy that failed to boot up you keep a spare on hand. Treat it like a hardware failure and just swap disks (they're HOT SWAPPABLE!!!!!).
If you don't trust keeping a backup, just keep an image of the original backed up on a hard disk and burn it to another floppy. How difficult is that?
Actually, in order I see Teddy Rosevelt, Clinton, Nixon. The republicans will never see it because there is just so much hatred built up for Clinton, but he really is a great one.
You really need a little maturity. The people who were voting are old people. I can easily tell that you are young by both your flawed opinions and your brashness. Elderly people are both not as sharp, and not as likely to take a stand against people telling them they can't have something. I saw video of these people voting. They practically had one foot in the grave! You, however, can't see that our seniors need a little extra attention and a little extra care. No wonder you're so blatantly anti-Gore (and likely pro-Bush).
There's a reason people retire at 65, and a reason why rest homes are populated. The elderly are old! Some of them need walkers to get around. Some of them are in wheelchairs. And some of them are totally dependent on Social Security money. These people might not have been as sharp and quick witted, but they deserve protection and the right to vote just as much as you do. Before you go spouting your rhetoric next time, consider your grandparents in the voting booth and consider whether you'd want them to be able to exercise their right to vote.
By the way, in System Properties (Windows 2000) it says the following:
Computer:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Mobile
CPU 1133MHz
AT/AT COMPATIBLE
Isn't that neat?

Actually, it's with the serial port version of the V. It's putting a very large amount of voltage into the serial port and that's killing the UART.

For a long time I've been telling the people at Radio Shack "I don't want to give out that information." They are not persistant about it at all.
There are really cool games out there, but some people don't have them. Look for either of the Silent Scope games (especially Silent Scope 2). The Skateboarding game is great too (I can't remember what it's called).

Try an older bios rev for the heat issue. It seems that the fans come on more with the older rev.

Put the same NIC in all of your boxes while you install. Then remove that NIC as soon as you're in the clear. Done. Problem solved. Next?

They were campaigning for him because they wanted to get rid of him. He'll do less damage to Texas and kill fewer people as President (hopefully).
