I think another reason for short devel. cycles is the speed at which hardware technology advances... as much as you may hate the features M$ or Intel 'force' into the hardware market, it's still very sexy when Linux can use them! (eg. USB... well ok, i doubt you hate the idea of cutting the number of cables behind your desk in half...)
Yes, this is highly likely, as there are still countries that have non-standard dialtones.
I remember having one BigAss(tm) fight with the compuserve dialup software in Hungary some years ago, until i realized that the damn modem didn't consider the Hungarian dialtone to be a dialtone!
Not to mention the Voyager episode where Paris and Janeway evolve backwards into large lizards (!). (First season, the one with breaking the warp 10 barrier.) _______________________________________ ____________________
Is this new network being used for normal internet traffic as well? If not, why not? I mean, this kind of bandwidth would actually allow cable/ASDL/LAN users to use the whole bandwidth of their connection, rather than 10-50% as today...
I'm just wondering what my ping in Q3A would be on this network...;-)
