She dialed 911 and got through just fine, she just blamed VoIP because of her tragedy and her lawyer is trying to cash in.
That's the thing people forget, she dialed 911 and it worked (twice actually), again just someone trying to $$$ in on a tragedy.
My opinion, DRM is a bad idea all around. No matter if it's OSS or the next best thing from Microsoft, the only thing that will happen is those that buy music/video/whatever have more hoops to jump through while those that sell the same media illegally, continue to do so without another thought.
Somehow, I don't see DRM working on Linux or any OS for that matter if the source code is open source. It only takes so long for those bright computer geeks to figure out the closed source DRM protection and they want to make it open source? LOL
Media companies need to focus on customer trust and giving what the customer wants instead of worrying about people that record music off the radio or television, or wherever they get the copy from. I have a friend who has thousands of DVD movies, that he could have easily found online, but wants the "finished" and polished product.
DRM = Bad implementation of an even worse idea!
Right Here

They offer "any" indie music artist or band the ability to sell their music, give away free music, and to sample music before you buy.
The artist get 10 times as much per sale as the "main stream" artist and the site even pushes open source as it's run completely on OSS servers, apps, and web servers.
They are truly trail blazers in the indie online music distribution stuff.
So go check it out and support your indie bands!
Gaming routers are under $100, so unless you already have an old PC, it's cheaper just to get the gaming router and not have to worry about building your own. Plus, what about wireless access? That seems to come with every gaming router today, so even the hardware cost kind of outweigh this approach.
I'll stick with my D-Link DGL-4300 router, it's small, uses less power, no noise, has wireless access, and a ton of other features that I'll never use.
I certainly agree, only buy music from sites that use non-DRM (ogg, flac, whatever) formats. I buy music from http://ind-music.com/ because it supports Independent Artist not on labels, the artist make a ton more money per song and it uses the wonderful ogg vorbis files which works on any OS or portable music player, no DRM included, doesn't get much better than that.
Just my $0.02
Anyone actually tried this yet? I did and it did NOT work on Windows XP, Windows 2000, Linux (obvious), Windows 98, Windows 2003 Server or Windows NT 4.0? So what gives? More FUD being spread about Firefox again?
To develop a Linux iTunes would mean using Ogg Vorbis as downloads, no DRM, and should probably only run from a bunch of Linux powered servers. Well heck, one is already out there. Keep in mind that it's not for mainstream artist, but for Independent Music artist that have no ties to the Recording Industry Labels. If sites such as this can get more community support, all the news about DRM woes will be laughed away by the rest.
Take a look for yourself, it's just waiting for the world to find it.

Enjoy All!
That's why artist should use sites like this one -- http://ind-music.com/ where exactly this can happen and does on a daily basis. Until sites like this and others catch on, expect the music industry to remain as soul collectors.
As long as they keep pushing out great distros, I wouldn't care if they called it Mandrake v3.14ø (Midnight Flying Frogs) Edition. Been a long time user of it, always been happy with the release and I help hundreds of people switch from windows to Linux using this distro as a good starting point.
Different strokes for different folks, since Mandrake 10.1 I've no problems installing it on hundreds of machines. If anything 10.1 was a step in the right direction. I did try Fedora, but it was a nightmare. Nothing has come close to the ease of use of Mandrake Linux of any distro that I've tried. I can convert people from Windows to Linux because Mandrake has everything they did in windows minus Microsoft office, but that's why Open Office exist;-)
I would be glad to share the love, are these fine people the ones that should be contacted as well. I would hate for them to miss out on good feedback about great things they are doing for other spyware companies even though I'm sure they know that iDownload isn't spyware, I sure they would be glad to load the iDownload "enhancement" on their own PC computers right? Maybe I should forward an attachment to them with the iDownload software so they can install it and see how harmless it is?
Free of charge, no logging, no IP information logged, you will completely anonymously delivered. I want to make sure the fine folks at the non-spyware idownload website can get the proper feedback on their wonderful something-ware programs.
This is for real, all e-mails sent to idownload@knightmb.dyndns.org will auto-forward to those addresses.
I consider it a way of saying thanks to the idownload people and I want to connect them with the people that have a word or two to say to them:-)
If you feel the RIAA has done you injustice, support Independent Bands/Artist or buy music that is only in DRM Free formats like Ogg Vorbis, etc from sites like these:
http://ind-music.com/
or
http://www.cdbaby.com/
As long as people buy it and don't pay attention to what the software or music files are doing, they (RIAA) will keep doing what they do.
If it fails, I guess the amount of money spent won't matter. Means I won't have to pay back any credit cards or banks, I think I'll take out some loans to go party on then:-)

There's nothing wrong with your post. If the word is going to get out, promoting it in every way possible is more that justified in my opinion.

1) Payment by paypal only (no problem for me)
2) Service then lets you log in, but it's not secure (no encryption, wth!) so choose a temp password that you wouldn't mind someone stealing
3) You enter the "target" number, your number then 10 digit caller ID string
4) As soon as you hit submit, it does call you, calls the other number and bridge them together.
5) But!! The caller ID string does not work. I've tested this with several land line phones, cell phones, etc. I always show up as "unknown".
Conclusion:
Allows bridge calls but does not produce the caller ID string you put in. So this service is a bust in my opinion.
