XP *will* in fact. Just check the task manager when idle, you'll notice the defrag program running in the background with HDD activity. That's why I can leave my Windows XP workstations on 24/7 and then when I decide to defrag once a month, there isn't much to defrag at all. I never knew why until I caught my system doing a "hidden" defrag via task manager one day when I noticed HDD activity and nothing was going on with the desktop.

I agree, it will be a "wait until they forget" approach or "wait until we pay off enough people that no one can do anything regardless" instead.

Either way, if it should someone make it out, then the best way to fight back is to attack the wallet and make all the data collected "useless" in a sense.

The speed difference is moot, even if you can do the speed limit, they will still pass you. I can keep up with any speed limit under 45 MPH on my electric bike and people still insist on blowing past you as fast as they can. I don't know how may times I was doing 40 MPH in a 30 MPH lane and people, still speed past you, all of them in the slow lane go out of their way to pass you instead of just following. It's less about speed difference and more about respect which many motorist don't have for cyclist, plain and simple. At least it's that was over in the USA, other countries are better as this from what my foreign cyclist friends tell me.

I even have a video of such incidents, watch this one here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3995379778782687414&hl=en and fast forward it to 7 minutes 20 seconds. I'm doing the speed limit "in the bike lane" and someone (black truck) still cut me off while both of us were going very fast. It's a good thing that bicycles can stop way better than vehicles, but still, it's just another example of no respect.

I don't know how many IT admins have thank me for clearing up the tremendous trash that Microsoft builds up in their files to make a simple one page letter eat 10 times more space than an Open Office document of the exact same text on their file servers. I agree that DRM is a hassle, but a lot of people are still buying music for the format. I kind of see like spam e-mail. No one wants it, but enough people buy into it to keep it going. Any music you buy from iTunes, Wal-mart, etc that uses DRM only gives you a short term license to play the music anyway. So you have to download that DRM full of happiness file quickly or fork out more money for the same song. That's what really bothers me about how iTunes and all the others handle these DRM files they sell. I know a friend who spent thousands of dollars on iTunes songs. One day his computer had a HD crash and guess what, he lost all the music. So we rebuild his computer got iTunes back on and well crap he couldn't download those songs from iTunes again without having to repurchase them? WTF!

The only site that allowed him to re-download the file after a year was http://ind-muisc.com/ because 1) they don't sell DRM music and 2) they allow 2 years (yes years!) to download the file you purchased. I think even if it was 5 years you could e-mail them and get the files just because they hate DRM so much.

So DRM music is just like spam, no one wants it, too many people don't know any better, so it will continue to exist until people vote with their wallets and give business to the online music stores that sell DRM free music. Which plenty exist out there, they just don't have the advertising budget that Apple or Microsoft have.
