The real question is, why does a tractor of all things, even require firmware? It's not a complicated machine with fancy dashboards and GPS and mandated speed restrictions and whatever. It's a god damn tractor!
My uncle in Idaho has a $250K tractor with navigational computer, HVAC, satellite TV, a comfortable seat and floodlights for night time work. The thing practically drives itself. All he does is sit inside it for 18 hours per day from Spring to Fall, and then take three months off for winter to go fishing down south. He makes more money than all the farmers he works for during the growing season.

Fabric3 (Python) took 45 minutes to set up, didn't work under Cygwin, took an extra 60 lines of code to do what I did in 30 lines of XML, and the configuration variables for ONE SYSTEM was messed up. If I was to use Fabric, I would have to reinvent Ant.

What started off as a proposal from the Heritage Foundation, implemented as RomneyCare in Massachusetts, and came out half-baked as ObamaCare became Obama's signature achievement. The Republicans spent seven years screaming "repeal and replace" and they don't have the votes to repeal much less replace. Their current proposal will kick 26 million Americans off insurance while giving the rich a $200K tax break.
