  1. The point is that's not correcting the mistake, it's just moving the mistake slightly to the left.

Alternatively, the electors could nominate Bernie Sanders. But I'm not sure if that would be kosher.

  2. You mean will the electors vote as the will of their State and the laws thereof, or will they ignore it and go with the trendy feelings of Hillary voters?

Yes. But no one has trendy feelings for Hillary.

  3. I think it is cute how you want to change to popular vote so that 18 percent of the nation can pick the president.

Considering that California represents 1/10th of the U.S. population, it may not be a bad idea.

  4. I have a solution for you.

My lily-white, tea party-loving relatives already live in a bubble. They no longer associate with me since I'm a moderate conservative, I live in Silicon Valley and I have no problem getting on a bus people from all over the world speaking different languages.

  5. How about before an election, not right after the votes are counted and you don't like the results.

If we do it now, the Electoral College could be gone before the 2020 elections.

  6. The historical mistake cannot be corrected by em, unless they somehow cancel the whole election or elect some third party candidate.

The electors only need to flip their vote. If enough electors flip their votes in favor of the losing candidate, the winning candidate becomes a historical footnote. In theory. Just because it haven't happened doesn't mean that it couldn't happen.

  7. Thinking that you can amend the US Constitution now is as brainless as you think that Trump voters are.

If we are to have a discussion about changing the Electoral College, it might help if you didn't misread my comment. Nowhere in my comment did I say that amending the U.S. Constitution would be instantaneous.

  8. To change the Electoral College process now, after the popular vote is over, is sour grapes.

When is a good time to change the Electoral College if not now?

My last job was at Cisco but my contract came up for renewal during an announced layoff period (October 2013) and the HR system prevented my boss from renewing my contract. The former CEO got a 60% raise for having a lousy fiscal year. I was out of work for eight months until I got into government IT.

    What makes him an asshole?

He expected to get what he ordered to work? I did a PC refresh project for Dell at a Fortune 500 client when I discovered that a new workstation got shipped without a hard drive. My boss told me to call Dell tech support and wished me good luck. I was the asshole who had to explain that a workstation with missing hard drive was unacceptable, I couldn't ship back the missing hard drive because I didn't have it, and that it had to be shipped yesterday. It took a week to get Dell to ship out a replacement hard drive.

I work in government IT and my contract is fully funded for another three years. AFAIK, it's business as usual for the next three years as it would be unusual for Congress to cancel existing contracts outright. I'm preparing for the worse for the next four years.
