Well, more of my hardware worked out of the box on my previous laptop with a clean install of Slackware then worked with a clean install of XP (had to replace the HDD, lost the Restore CD, installed Win XP Pro SP2 then Slack 12)

  6. Re:A serious question on USB 3.0's New Jacks and Sockets · · Score: 1

The reason that there are no IEEE 1394 keyboards, mice, or joysticks is that THAT'S NOT WHAT FIREWIRE WAS MEANT FOR! Firewire was designed to replace external SCSI connectors that were used for devices such as HDD's and whatnot. USB on the other hand was meant to handle low bandwith devices such as keyboards and mice, and as such does not perform well on high bandwith devices such as HDD's and the like. So, you could say Firewire replaces external SCSI and some serial and parallel devices, while USB was to replace PS2 and MIDI ports.

I would also like to remind everyone that intellectual property is a new concept, and had we had it years ago, we wouldn't have the works of Shakespeare and Newton.

Lucky you. Most of my games do not run under Vista, exceptions being StarCraft (sometimes), World of WarCraft (sometimes), The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, FEAR: Combat, and Half Life 2. Everything else (great games, like Thief) either doesn't install or doesn't run. BTW, my Vista system is a Turion64 x2 (1.9GHz/core), 2GB RAM, Vista Buisness 32bit.
